Fed lossing to Delpo and Novak lossing to Tsonga get a facepalm but Murray lossing to Harrison seems so much more convincing...alright then.

Harrison isn't beating Murray lets be realistic here. Maybe in a few years time sure.

If anything the most likely "big 4" player to go out early would be Nadullina. Isn't 100% fit, has retired 2 straight aussie opens and all he faces is big hitters and big servers.

Well his comfort zone is to play defensive tennis yes but thats not to say he isnt starting to play more aggressive and when he does it seems to work very well but he needs to stick with it in all his matches.

I mean afterall murray isnt too different from your hero djokovic their playing style is very similar djokovic with a better forehand and murray with a better serve.

QF
Nole vs. Pics (Nole should win this one in 3 or 4 sets, but as usual, Pics will put up a good fight, he's like a little terrier)
Murray vs. Tsonga (Best QF match on paper, I think Murray will win, he is 5-1 against Tsonga, and Tsonga's game plays right into Murray's hands)
Delpo vs. Roger (Delpo's form has been unimpressive since his comeback from injury, I only think he will reach QF mainly because he is better than everyone else in the quarter bar Roger)
Berdych vs. Rafa (Berdych is Rafa's whipping boy since 2007!!! :o)

SF
Nole vs. Murray (Wonder how Murray's mind operates this time around if they both get there as it's NOT a final, I think he will put up a better fight this time around, maybe winning a set, but this surface is Nole's best, and it will be a night match too, so Nole wins)

Roger vs. Rafa (Doesn't matter how crap Rafa is or how well Roger plays before the SF, Roger will somehow find a way to lose (Aus Open 2009 final  at Roger, I've seen it happen way too many times in big matches between these two to think otherwise)

F
Nole vs. Rafa ==> Nole is AO champ and defends a grand slam title for the first time in his career. :)

Their styles are different, even though they are the two best returners and also have the two best backhands in tennis. Andy is much more unpredicatable and has more variety and feel while Novak is like a machine when he is playing well. Andy's first serve is better than Novak's, but Andy's second serve is like a womans. His forehand is also much weaker than Novak's.

Murray has a 5-1 record against Tsonga so i'm surprised how many people are predicting Tsonga will beat him, especially after Tsonga just pulled out of Kooyong citing exhaustion as the reason (not the most reassuring thing to hear from a player the week before a grand slam, you would think).

R4
Djokovic d. Raonic
Ferrer d. Gasquet (Tipsy cracks under pressure and goes out early)
Murray d. Monfils
Simon d. Tsonga
del Potro d. Kohlschreiber
Federer d. Dolgopolov
Berdych d. Baghdatis
Nalbandian d. Nadal (Rafa goes out after succumbing to injury)

QF
Djokovic d. Ferrer (Ferrer gives his best as usual but Novak outlasts him in 4 close sets)
Murray d. Simon (Murray gives Simon another lesson in counterpunching, winning relatively easily in 4 after losing concentration for one set)
Federer d. del Potro (Federer in straight sets - I don't think del Potro is anywhere near his best form)
Berdych d. Nalbandian (in straight sets, Nalby will be tired by this point)

SF (this is where I feel guilty if I don't pick Murray)
Murray d. Djokovic (Murray wins a topsy-turvy five setter, winning sets 1, 3 and 5)
Federer d. Berdych (everyone regrets ever writing Federer off as he dismantles Berdych in straights)

F
Federer d. Murray (Murray, clearly tired after his battle in the semis, comes out playing aggressively because he's too tired to run. He wins the first set but then Federer beats him at his own game and goes on the defensive, eventually prevailing in 4. Redemption for Federer)

(tried my best to be objective there)

Murray's problem isn't choking or throwing away leads. His problem is that he comes out in big matches and simply plays rubbish.

If he was playing well enough to get to a 5th set he'd had every chance of winning it. In fact I'd go as far as to say I'd favour him in 5th set, even if it was a GS semifinal.

This is will be Murray´s year. I think that he only needs to get his head right, go through a coherent gameplan and stick to it.

If you at last year´s perfomances, you can only argue that he was clearly outplayed in the AO final. He could have won against Nadal in the US Open, Wimbledon and even in Roland Garros. He just needs to get a gameplan (he only understood that he had to consistently play his forehand to Nadal´s backhand midway the third set, and it was too late), keep the focus (he lost the match in Wimbledon with that missed forehand down the line, when he was clearly outplaying Nadal) and be more agressive on break points (he had a ton of them in Roland Garros, but was too passive and Nadal is a monster on that departament, so you gotta the bull by the horns and fight every point like it´s the last).

And even against Djokovic, he took the unbeatable man to three tight sets in Rome, whether Nadal couldn´t even win one. Not to forget he won in Cincinnati. Injured or not, it counts to Murray´s confidence to future matches.

I just hope that Lendl fixes these mental issues, because Murray has the game to beat anyone. And i ain´t a Muzza tard.

I don't think anyone who's posted predictions on this thread has 100% confidence in them, it's just for fun. It is, perhaps, a manifestation of what we might like to see happen. Your statement in itself is an admission that what you're doing by criticising other peoples' predictions is far easier than making predictions of your own. What basis do you have to criticise anyone else if you don't have answers of your own?

I didn't say Djokovic wouldn't win if he was at his best - I just don't think he will be at his best, I don't think he's had enough time to recover.

still Ferrer being in the final is a slap in the face :D

Ferrer is the hardest worker and most intense fighter on tour.... he has talent just no great 'killshot' so to speak. fantastic mover and solid on all aspects of the game. i would be proud to see him in a Grand Slam final, give him more respect Saberq, because he sure as hell deserves it

never said he has a decent chance but if he is on his best and Murray his usual average self he will beat him......
Even if Murray is average, Harrison will need a miracle to beat him. In other words, Harrison is never beating Murray.

Harrison took Ferrer to five sets at Wimbledon also and took and pushed Soderling hard at the French last year.

I know that is why I said he could beat Murray .....Andy loses to mugs all the time and this kid is not a mug

Djokovic over Hewitt
Ferrer over Gasquet
Murray over Monfils
Tsonga over Simon
Del Potro over the Fog
Federer over Dolgopolov
Berdych over Baghdatis
Nalbandian over Nadal

then

Djokovic over Ferrer
Tsonga over Murray
Federer over Del Potro
Berdych over Nalbandian

then

Djokovic over Tsonga
Federer over Berdych

then

Djokovic over Federer

I confess I'm dreaming for Nalbandian, but why not, he can beat Lopez and Isner in his zone, and I'm sure that against an off-form Nadal in GS, he would have a decent chance. I hope that if Del Potro have to play Federer in 1/4 he will find his best game again, but I doubt about it.

Harrison took Ferrer to five sets at Wimbledon also and took and pushed Soderling hard at the French last year.

So he didn't beat two non-top 4 players and now he's a threat? Andy can lose to anyone when he's completely out of sorts and the opponent is in great form, but Harrison is not in great form- in fact he's had a string of 1st and 2nd round losses and Andy just convincingly won a tune up tournament.

Andy is 5-1 against Tsonga. I don't see him losing here to him unless Monfils tires him out first.

Tsonga is in the best form of his life. He has never been that close to the top 4.
Moreover, his game has the tools to beat Murray : we all know that Andy is in trouble against in-form ballbashers. AO is the best GS for Tsonga. That makes three good reasons to believe that he can beat Andy. I think that the H2H isn't very relevant and show either that Tsonga already beat Murray at the AO.
Actually, Tsonga has probably the best chance to win a GS he has ever had. The problem is he probably would have to beat Murray, Djokovic and Federer to do it. Too hard. But he definitely can beat at least one of them.

I find this funny from a guy who is crying because people didn't answer in HIS thread whereas he was the first to post it.

Anyway, it's hard to separate what you believe that will happen and what you hope that will happen. Because you hope that what you believe will happen.

It's pure speculation to make such early predictions, especially for round 16. You can't have objective prediction for each match.

No one is saying he can't do it, but everyone is predicting he will based on what seems to be a lot of wishful thinking. AO is also the best GS for Murray based on results. Tsonga has a great H2H (5-4) record against Djokovic, so if he was in the other quarter I give him a decent chance for the upset.

Also, seeing as Andy has a pretty lopsided head to head records against Tsonga and Del Potro, so I'm not sure where you are getting that he trouble with ball bashers?
