guess someone didnt like my last post about how the draw is "predetermined" in the following ways:

1. Fed-nole same half u can bet the house.

2. Fed will play tsonga and nole will play berdych in qf almost for sure but they may switch these two for fed-nole.

3. nadal will get ferrer and not fish since this is on hard court but will NEVER DRAW TSONGA or BERDYCH esp at a hard court or grass slam.

4. I would say murray will get fish

5. roddick will find his way into feds quarter

Please I hope im wrong or this is just sad nowadays for no variety.

Pretty dramatic video - some chest beating from Nadal too - ha "that victory gonna be in my heart forever"

The way they showed Roger, then Rafa and then Novak at the end - it sort of feels like it really should be Murray's turn this year... will it be though? Wishes: Roger/Rafa in the same half; Tsonga not in Rafa's quarter; avoid Tomic first round.

Overall pretty happy - could have been worse. Berdych is the 2nd toughest top 8 opponent but hopefully over best of 5 if he gets to the quarters he should have a good shot. Federer got the easiest one with Fish... Murray would probably prefer Tsonga to Berdych so ok for him. And Djoko's done well - Ferrer & Roddick though they have both got wins on HC vs him so who knows....

I think the draws are quite balanced, with Murray perhaps having the worst by a small margin. He obviously got hardest QF opponent in Tsonga, Harrison isn't a nice R1, but Bogolomov is a kind R3. Rafa's draw seems pretty good, it remains to be seen how Berdych will do though. Fed got easiest in Fish, but his is balanced out a little by Del Potro.

Lucilla
01-12-2012, 10:59 PM
Del Potro should watch out for Mannarino. He lost to him last year in Queens, in straight sets.

That's true. Del Potro has a long way to go and really needs to step it up.

Novak's draw really is ridiculously easy... Cannot see him losing a set until he gets to Raonic (who still has to win the matches to get there!). No threats in his quarter at all until Ferrer and even then I can't see Ferrer getting 3 sets even at his very best. We might get Djokovic/Roddick but Roddick can't beat him these days...

Nadal has Isner, Davydenko & Nalbandian in his quarter (plus another big server Anderson). Now I think Nadal can get through all of them in best of 5 given the recent form they've displayed but it's hardly true to say he doesn't get players that cause him problems in his draw... Berdych has had some good wins against him & when Berdych is on, he can be tough. Still pretty happy with it - not as good as Novak's but at least not as bad as Murray's...

Federer's pretty easy - sure he has tomic in his quarter but can't see Bernard getting 3 sets. Del Potro is the unknown I guess - difficult to know if he can turn on his best form.

Bet Fedalovic are just happy they've escaped Murray's draw...

He could have got a lot worse especially for R4, R3, R2 though. I'd say Berdych is the most dangerous of those you've listed, but Berdych is unreliable, and if he doesn't make it to QF then the worst Rafa can get is Almagro or Wawrinka. That's not bad.

Very hard draw for Murray. Even Harrison is a dangerous guy to play (obviously Murray will win, but still), but having to beat Monfils-Tsonga-Djokovic and either of the Fedal in the final is very difficult.
Nadal has a draw that has some quality rivals, but none that is really dangerous to him at the moment. I can't see Berdych beating him over 5 sets. But overall, not the easiest draw.
Federer has some difficult rivals as well. Karlovic, Melzer, Dolgo, Verdasco, Tomic and a probable QF with Delpo. Not the easiest draw.
Djokovic very lucky. Easy way till QF and he should not have many problems with Ferrer. No way can Milos or Andy hurt him.

Looner
01-12-2012, 11:06 PM
Lol, all the Nadaltards crying Djoko's draw is too easy. Too much irony for this Earth... Djoko has had very difficult draws in Slams and he sometimes will get relatively straightforward ones. Mind you, if he plays like last year, it wouldn't matter much. Shame Raonic/Delpo were not with the bull as I would have loved to see that. He's got 2 groupies again in Mugro and Lopez and I can't see Berdych being a threat in this one.

Or you just started watching tennis/know nothing/are a comedian/all of them.

I actually mean it. I don't expect some qualifier or even Haas to beat him, but Haas could possibly take a set. Ljubicic has beaten him twice on hard court, granted one was a very long time ago, but has always pushed Nadal in all of their hardcourt meetings. If he gets a big server like Isner in the next round, he could be troubled. Even if he gets Feli, Mayer or Davydenko, that could be tough because they've all beaten him and they would have some momentum by that stage of the tournament (I think Mayer and Davydenko will not make it that far as Mayey is injured and Davydenko is a shadow of his former self). And Berdych can certainly beat Nadal and stands a better chance than Fish and Ferrer, imo.

But earlier Nadal faces Isner. They only met once on hardcourts, and it was a thriller at 2010 Indian Wells which Nadal won 7-5, 3-6, 6-3. Plus, on clay they met at 2011 Roland Garros and astonishingly Isner forced Nadal to 5 sets. Danger match, but of course Nadal will be ready.

Finally a Fedal semifinal possibility :yeah:.

All draws seem about equal to me. Federer probably has the easiest seed in his quarter, Fish, but Del Potro is a possible opponent as well and if he's on, it'll be tough match.

Regardless what happens im glad its been changed up with fed and nole being in differnt halves.

Fed at least has won sets off nadal on plexicushion even though he served atrociously that match. While fed has yet to win a set off nole in 2 matches on plexicushion so i think fed has a better shot here to get to the finals rather than go through nole on plexi.

I just think for some reason nadal will not make it to the semi. He's only been there twice ever. Lets hope they meeet though for a change.

Nadal won the AO in 2009. Nadal got a bit unlucky in 2010 when he drew Murray in QF (the year Soderling had crept into the top 4). Then in 2011 Nadal won 12 sets in a row before tearing a muscle vs Ferrer. I like his chances this year, especially vs Berdych. Take care of Isner, and no problem.

the worst Rafa can get is Almagro

:haha:

fedal in the same half

it took djokovic to win 3 GS in a season to convice the GS organizers that rigging the draw with fedal wasn't such a good idea.

not that this means that the draw isn't rigged now btw

He could have got a lot worse especially for R4, R3, R2 though. I'd say Berdych is the most dangerous of those you've listed, but Berdych is unreliable, and if he doesn't make it to QF then the worst Rafa can get is Almagro or Wawrinka. That's not bad.

That's true. Rafa is 29-10 against all of the players in his quarter, but he's 28-2 against the player's in Berdych's quarter (plus 10-3 vs Berdych). If he wins his R32 and R16 matches and avoids Berdych in the QF then he will have a comfortable matchup in the QF.

Cakewalk draw for Murray. The tough players on his quarter will drop like flies and ice his cake for him.

Muzza is easily the favorite for AO title :rocker2: The only thing that can stop him is if his butt injury from last year resurfaces at the most inopportune moment

Berdych is the easiest player in the top 10 for Nadal to play. It is highly unlikely Berdych will win a set from Nadal.

Isner is the only threat to Nadal, after the havoc he caused at Roland Garros. In fact their only hardcourt meeting was a thriller - 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 Nadal won at 2010 Indian Wells.

Monfils actually will probably be more of a challenge for Muzzah than Tsonga. Murray has a pretty good 5-1 record against Tsonga and hasn't lost to him since Jo's fairytale run in 2008. Monfils on the other hand managed to beat him in their most recent meeting, even though Murray is still 3-2 against him.
Any other tricking matchups for Murray before Djoker?

like always , nadull`s draw is a really joke.

he only can win gs in hardcourts when he faces patetic draws like in usa open 2010 or in this australian open 2012.

the really lucky man is nadull

Reigning Australian Open men's champion and world No.1 Novak Djokovic will begin his title defence against Italy's Paolo Lorenzi.

The match-up is one of a number of fascinating first-round clashes revealed during the tournament's Official Draw at Melbourne Park on Friday morning.

Simply fascinating. World number one and defending champion against the very last direct entry, a 30 year old who has won 6 tour level matches in his entire career. Yeah fascinating.
