Only saw part of this. Baggy played well. Del Po a bit flaky at times. Baghdatis won only one more point than Del Po (overall points played).

smart move from Delpo . His fitness could take 5 matches here and be completely ready for AO

Well I really know what to say but I just hope he plays better at the Australian Open.

The Bagman could be due a good run in Oz. As for Del Potro, he is not a real slam contender at this stage of his comeback.

Delpo playing as if it was a clay court.

That guy needs to step it up like he did pre-injury.

Nice Baggy is in good form, DeL Potro will have a nice run at AO. Real champions are always the best on big tournaments.

Yes, fucking yes! Finally a great win to confirm that he's doing well.
Potro should have won this though, so many chances.

didnt see the match, but Baghdatis isnt a bad player to lose to really. Baggy has been in good form and he was oing to be a tough cookie early in the year for Juan
In a way, its good he can now rest for AO and hopefully have a decent run, befitting his potential:)

By the way, I just dont get why Marcos is overplaying so much. FGS, he played last week too reaching the Saturday SF and now is playing the week befoire AO when he actually seems to be in the form to make a good run:o

Time to drop the comeback word, I think. He's has come back enough.

Baggy has always been supremely talented. Would be nice to see him as a top 10 player again. He should have played like this against Murray last week.

strategic tank by the goat, he knew this was enough practice to win the ozzie open so there was no reason to finish the tournament and tire himself right before the start of his second slam.

Bigger talent won.

Because Fed beat him in the Grand Slam final and lost to Delpo?

DelPo apparently had some issues with the very pro-Baggy crowd making pro-Baggy noises. But didn't cite it as the reason for losing. In addition, he doesn't know why Baggy is so popular in Australia and doesn't know where Cyprus is. Shame on him.

No wrong answer, Delpo was more talented than Baggy, how come baggy hasnt won a slam or won against top seeded players:rolleyes:

Congrats to Baggy btw:yeah:

Congrats to Baggy btw:yeah:Talent does not equal results. As tennis gets more and more physical, less and less "old school" tennis talent is needed to win slams. (Also, Baggy HAS beaten top seeds.)

Well done, Bagman.

When unfit sumo wrestler wins a match against top 15 player you know he has choked.

...Delpo is unfit choking expert from Tandil.

No, he didnt. And why does he need to know that? Yeah, he doesnt.

But if he does need to know that, there is Google and voila.

In terms of talent:
Baghdatis >>>>>> Del Potro

In terms of results:
Del Potro >>> Baghdatis

Some poeple still think talent wins you matches.

given the circumstances in which he found himself, Juan Martin's awkwardness/rudeness/boorishness is understandable.

Baghdatis is an all-court player, Del Potro is a uni-dimensional factory ball machine.

The talent thing's been explained by others.

Baghdatis of 06 AO would beat 2009 USO final Fed, that I have no doubts.

Because of the conditions in 2011, this is the era with the least correlation between 'talent' and 'results'.

Yes, he did. But not in that term. He asked: "Why do people so rooting fo Baggy here, in Australia? Is it Cyprus near to Australia?"
So, actually he knows where Cyprus really is.

Baghdatis of AO 2006 was nothing special. 5 set comebacks whole tournament.

I watched the match. Definitely Delpo lost his chances here as he was serving 5-4 in the first set and then in the tie break was 5-4 and two serves to close the match. No big expectations for him for the Australian Open with this poor mentality.:(

I think you are being biased. Rowdy crowd behavior that upsets players is endemic only at the US Open and nowhere else in the civilized world. That's what MTF says and they're the experts.
