Igor's had a nice start to the season. After qualifying in Brisbane and winning a MD match there, he's won a match in Vina Del Mar and qualified at both Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires, getting to the QF at Buenos Aires, his first ATP QF since 2010. He also won a match in Acapulco qualifying. Ultimately, he's raised his ranking from #115 to his current provisional rank #105 and has only 35 points to defend until the French Open MD cutoff is released, so he has a good shot at getting in the MD at his favorite slam.

It seems he's gotten his form together on clay, but he hasn't yet been able to translate that to great form on hardcourt. He lost in three sets to Tim Smyczek in Indian Wells qualifying today, and his next event will be the Dallas challenger in-between Indian Wells and Miami qualifying. Hopefully he can win a few HC matches before the tour's return to clay.

Igor is into the semifinals of Dallas! He has defeated Gil, Cipolla and Lacko. The matches vs Gil and Lacko went three sets. Igor has shown a lot of determination and motivation this week and he has been getting better as the tournament goes on. With this result Igor is up to #105 in the provisional ATP rankings and will be back in the top 100 with a victory today.

He plays Bjorn Phau for a spot in the finals. Hopefully Igor can keep the wins coming!

Yes he can and he did!Defeated Phau today in two sets: 7-6(2) 7-6(2).
Tomorrow he'll play the final against Dancevic.

Oh, I'd forgot: Welcome back to the TOP100 Igor! :yeah:

Igor's really had a great week. He's showing a lot of composure on the big points in his matches, that's a great sign that his confidence is back. He looks a lot happier and less discouraged on court. Now he's back in the top 100 and has situated himself nicely for a great European clay swing. GL to Igor in the finals!

Igor unfortunately lost the final to Dancevic 6-7(4) 3-6 after being up 4-1 in the first set tiebreak. Had his chances in that match but didn't take advantage of enough of them to win. On Monday he played his first round match against Arnaud Clement in Miami qualifying and lost 7-6(8) 4-6 2-6. The first set was very back-and-forth but Igor seemingly began to tire as the match went onward.

Well after these results Igor is provisionally ranked #96. He isn't assured of remaining top 100 after Miami. There are several players who can jump ahead of him in the ranking, at the same time there are several players ahead of him who will be losing points these next weeks. The positive is that Igor is essentially 1-2 wins away from clinching a French Open MD position, which will be extremely helpful for him going forward and take a lot of pressure off his game. With Ljubicic retiring and Soderling not being able to play for at least several months, there are a few spots in the MD that will be open for Igor to move up if necessary.

Igor's next scheduled tournament is in Casablanca in three weeks. Igor will likely take this time to rest and prepare for the European clay season, unless he takes a WC into a challenger event prior to Casablanca. GL to Igor in Casablanca and hopefully he can translate his good form of this season to European clay!

Looks like a good idea to rest a little. I don't think he'd have gone too far in Miami anyways tbh, as previous weeks have been really intense for him. Now it's time to focus, adjust to the clay courts and accumulate strength for European spring tournaments.

Igor is into the QF of Casablanca! He defeated Montanes 6-3 6-4 in R1 and Istomin 6-7(3) 6-3 6-2 in R2 Wednesday. Against Istomin, he fell behind 0-3 in the first set and really didn't play well the first half of the match, but he started cutting down on his errors, moved well and served great on big points against him. He's a lot more confident now and it shows in how he plays under pressure. Goes to show just how important it is to have a winning feeling as a player in tennis.

Igor now plays Garcia-Lopez in the QF. Igor has a 2-0 H2H, both matches being in three sets. They haven't played since 2008, but Igor can take confidence in his previous wins over GGL and hopefully he continues to ride his wave of momentum and makes the SF!

Igor defeated Garcia-Lopez in QF, and unfortunately got defeated 3-6 6-7 by Ramos today.
He really had the chance to even up the match (been leading already 5-2 in the second), but just couldn't keep it up. He wasn't as calm and focused as in the previous rounds, and didn't seem to cope well with windy conditions. Made quite a lot of UEs (don't remember the exact number), and let Ramos take the initiative on too many occasions. Besides, he really wasn't lucky when it came to close calls/nets etc. Lahyani didn't spoil him with decisions in his favor either. The tie break was quite dramatic too. Igor didn't take any of the 4 tie break set points he had, and eventually, lost the match in straights.
Igor's getting better and better with every tourney he plays, so if nothing bothers him physically he should move up in ranks soon (I hope). Thumbs up for getting to a SF.

What kind of injury does he have?

He has so many of them that I lost count. I think it's still his shoulder injury that's bothering him atm. It surely is smart of him to take time and let it heal...Hope he'll be able to start the new season on time and well prepared.

Sorry for answering so late but yes, he did. He said that time has passed, his career's over. He made up his mind about retiring after Wimbledon. There were many reasons for him to do so. And injuries that bothered him during the last couple of years were the main one. Life goes on, and he wants his future professional life to be sports-oriented too. There are some new ideas/possibilities opening up, he's waiting to see which one will work out. Sport is his life, he added. He understands he shouldn't leave it, but share his knowledge and experience with those who might need it.
