Morning everyone! :wavey:

What you all upto today?

Just trying to write a german essay that is due in for tomorrow, only a couple more sentences too write though.. Then off too English Lit, reading the Wife Of Bath (The canterbury tales) in old English is more of an endurance test than a 5 hour, 5 set match on a clay court in the middle of July!

I always wonder how much in common have the old English with the new one

I'll be staying home translating for a few hours and then back to tennis again round 2pm

Well here's a little excert from the book:

"Thou seydest this, that I was lyk a cat;
For whoso wolde senge a cattes skin,
Thanne wolde the cat dwellen in is in
And if the cattes skin be slik and gay
She wol not dwelle in house not half a day,
But forthe she wole, er any day be dawed,
To shewe her skin, and goon a caterwawed"

Having read the book and obtaining a good understand of old english, an excert like this isn't really too difficult too grasp.
Can you understand it? Try reading it outloud, it makes more sense :)

haha, I can get just a few words

  (So sorry.. :p )

The meaning of the word 'gay' has changed so much. Im guessing that at the time it was meant as 'good' 'nice' or 'beautiful'. If you want back too England during the 50's or earlier it was used to mean 'happy' or 'nice' so you would hear 'Its a gay day' or 'you're in a gay mood'. If you look in an english dictionary it will still have one of the definitons of 'gay' as meaning happy.

one of the turkish volunteers had a crush on one french player and while he was there he was trying to have some fun too. she didnt speak french and very little english and he didnt speak english at all ( i dont know what they talked about). in an Italian TV Show there's a part called Double Interview, where 2 people with smth in common are getting the same questions to answer. there was Tare and a famous Albanian dancer in Italy (popular Albanians in Italy was what they had in common). To the question "Which is your favourite position during sex?" the dancer tried to avoid a straight answer saying that he likes them all, instead Tare in 2 seconds replied "From behind"

Tare has his up and downs but he has never played constantly since he was at Brescia

Cana had no other choice IMO, at PSG he wasnt playing much. for me Cana is the best player of our national team.

Bogdai had a good season last year but this one has started badly
there's another guy, Berisha that playes for Hamburg and scored against CSKA the last match of CHL

also there's Debatik Curri that playes in Ukraine and he scored against Netherlands in mid october for ECH qualifyings ( I was in Stockholm that day, didnt watch the match)

And as for opera, it was Swan Lake and it was ballet actually... but the music was like perfect.... and also the main three dancers were very good.

Some really enjoying scenes to watch!

my first final was in 2000, in a tournament similar to the Masters, with 8 players. I actually beat the guy that beat me in the final on the group matches

You are so great, I am very proud of you :hearts:

And would you believe I was promising I would never have sex with a tennis player? :haha:

Electronic has some exponentials, mainly Kraftwerk, but that's it. Usually they're a bunch of people that never got to learn to play an instrument and wanna act as musicians... :p

like learning an instrument is a difficult task nowadays

you have no idea of hom many subgenres fall in the electronic genre

Daft Punk rock my socks

Air and Boards of Canada are amazing

Autechre&Aphex Twin are too inovative for an ordinary hard-rocker

what do you think about Shoegaze?

shoegaze started in end of 80s, but you'll definitely not like it.

My Bloody Valentine, Ride and Slowdive are let's say the most famous bands that did this genre in its prime

I know Charlotte's songs, but never heard the whole album. Didn't have a clue was produced by Air  Maybe they said it on the radio, I just didn't pay much attention.

they are OK, but too overrated IMO. especially on that other board where I go, Loveless (their best album) always ends in top 5 albums ever

I prefer Slowdive :inlove:
