WTF SF: Tsonga def. Berdych 6-3 7-5

Birdshit at his very best . Krupa barely control himself not to run on the court and punch him in the face . The problem wasn't just horrible execution, the hole game plan I can't understand. I am not sure If I saw one BH cross court exchange, even when Berdych had a time to choose the shot, he went all the time to Tsonga's forehand and these kind of stuffs... Hilarious

Regardless to Birdshit, Tsonga was brilliant . He was moving the best what I saw him moving, flying on the court, return was great, serve was huge , forehand was huge, backhand was rock solid. Probably the best what Tsonga can play . In my opinion tomorrow has a great shot for the title

I think Tsonga takes this whole thing. I have the same Nalbandian feel again when Roger beat him in group stage and lost in the final.

Tomas was horrible! But that was expected.

Jo on the other hand was absolutely brilliant! :worship:

Great result as at least Jo will actually play tennis tomorrow against Federer!

Allez Jo tomorrow! :bounce:

Oh boy, Tsonga was 22/13 W/UE, playing like this he can beat Roger

Wow, I didn't even know this match was being played. What kind of supposedly important tournament allows an entire match to be played before showing it on TV?

best pair in the final. should be a great match. Tsonga doesn't choke against Fed, let's hope the occasion doesn't get to him.

Berdych subpar, Tsonga brilliant on most of occasions, hence the score.

Replace 'Conga' with 'Tsonga'. :D

Yep, Jo-Willie DOES have a good chance at taking this title, tomorrow. :yeah:

May it be a FANTASTIC final tomorrow!

Well, Berdych only played a few good games in the second set, but all credit to Joe in finishing this in straights- that was a marvelous volley to give him match point. Hopefully he has a little left for Fed tomorrow.

Hey now Berdych wasn't that bad. 19/21 net points won for example. Some errors and unnecessary DFs became costly but at the same time Tsonga was on fire. Tsonga was blasting serves and big shots from both wings and when an offensive player is in that shape and refuses to hit errors then it takes something very special to challenge it. Berdych needed better serving himself and he could have forced TBs at least but his 2nd serve was utter crap

The good part is that the final could be great if Tsonga manages to conserve his level for tomorrow

Berdych was awful and as expected, Tsonga won the match. Berdych was tired I'm sure, he just yesterday finished his third hard match..

Jase  At least you like Tsonga too. ;)

Man, such an awesome end to the year for Jo, even if he doesn't manage to overcome Fed in the final. Very happy with how he's played this week for the most part, and fingers crossed he makes it interesting tomorrow

Allez~~~

Berdych did his job by knocking out Djokovic. There was no need for him anymore. The GOAT awaits you, Tsonga.

How is he under presure? He is the only player that has beaten all top guns in slams.
And the way he finished off the match tonight... 2 aces and 1 glorious volley was pure class.

Berdych was stellar at the net, but the rest of his game was extremely inconsistent. Sometimes great serving, sometimes very poor (consecutive DF's). Sometimes excellent forehands, sometimes drills several in a row into the net (or out of the court). His footwork often seemed lazier than it should have been.

Tsonga, as has been said, was excellent. Terrific serving, extremely aggressive groundstrokes, good defensive play.

I am happy, these last two years were so full of shit. And now, look at this: first full season without injuries, back to top-10, WTF Final. Oh god, I can't believe it :sobbing:

I just want him to stay healthy and I don't need anything more. I am afraid to wish something more.

Sure but tomorrow is the finals. I would bet the house Tsonga is only going to bring a set maybe of great tennis.. Then he will forget how to serve and play well. Can you really trust a guy like Tsonga in the finals of a major tournament mentally?

I was expecting much more from Berdych but i guess he was too tired to do it...

Let's see if it's the third time lucky for Jo

Surely that must be why Berdych still won 83% off 1st serves

Huh! What about Federer then?

Indeed, Fed's slam haul really shows what a tool he is in pressure situations.

Agreed, that was beautiful.

I flew over to watch this match. Anyone else from here go see it?
I had one incredibly annoying Czech Berdych fan screaming the whole time, RIGHT in my ear.
Apart from that, it was good match (esp. from Jo).

The doubles however :o

The UEs were too much from Tomas once again. It was great winning the RR but a little bit disappointing losing 2-0 to Tsonga. He could have asked for more. Anyway, another good year from Tomas, a single ATP 500 Title and Top 8 again.
I'm happy!

Tsonga and Berdych are very similar. They can either be very good or ridiculously poor. Berdych was pathetic whilst Tsonga was very solid indeed. Should be a decent final against Federer but I expect the great man to come out on top.
