Federer 2007 season vs Djokovic 2011 season

I actually think this is a very worthwhile season comparison, both seasons have their clear strengths and weaknesses.

Key point of contention and similarity.

They both won 3 slams, and the same 3 slams.
Federer reached the final of the one he didnt win, thus making all four slam finals in the one year.

2007,
Fed won 3 slams.
Fed reached all 4 slam finals.
Fed won a slam without dropping a set.
Won 2 slam finals in straight sets.
Won the TMC/WTF.
Was denied the calander year slam only by the best clay court player in history.
Was still compiling his grass court winning streak.

2011,
Nole won 3 slams.
Lost less total matches.
Won more masters 1000 titles.
Didnt do so well in WTF.

For me its a dead heat. Most will say Nole because of the win loss ratio, others will say Federer because reaching the RG final and winning WTF is worth more historically than a good win loss ratio.

Now, if Nole had kept his losses down to 3 or less, I think his season would be better than Feds 2007. But because the loss ratio isnt so low now, I think it brings Feds 2007 into contention.

Discuss. I really think this debate could be much better than the 2006-2011 one, that one really there isnt any doubt over.

Watch Federer-Roddick AO semi 2007 and then it becomes easy to decide.

Well he was outstanding in 2007 AO, but to be fair it really was like his 2006 form. He didnt play like that for the vast bulk of 2007.

His win/loss was 77-9. So Nole 2011 beats him in that department with his 70-6 2011 record. BUT it must be mentioned that Federer played 86 matches, 10 more than Nole.

But of course in that, Federer lost twice to Canas. Djokervics losses were a tad more respectible though some were absolute blowouts.

Djokovic 2011 is closer to Fed 2007 than he is to Fed 2006.

I'd go with Nole, only for the losses to Canas.

That was some embarrassing shit, even if he was doping.

Canas was better than Tipsarevic and Nikishori, specially on slow hardcourt. Volandri was more of a terrible loss for Federer.

Not really, he was an even less talented version of Ferrer, just the ultimate roadrunner.

Results tell a different story, Canas has a master series on hardcourt and a master series final and also 7 titles. He was one of the fastest players I have seen on hardcourt, much faster than Ferrer with all the juice.

Sorry, I don't count roadrunning or bribing the dope official as talent, at least not in tennis

So I've done quite a bit of math and this is what I have come up with:

Fed 2006- 15,760 using 2011 points, 8,370 using 2006 points= 12,065 avg.
Djokovic 2011- 13,630 using 2011 points, 7,235 using 2008 points= 10,432.5 avg.
Fed 2007- 13,595 using 2011 points, 7,180 using 2007 points= 10,387.5 avg.
Nadal 2010- 12,495 using 2010 points, 6,680 using 2008 points= 9,587.5 avg.
Fed 2005- 12,375 using 2011 points, 6,725 using 2005 points= 9,550 avg.
Nadal 2008-12,310 using 2011 points, 6,730 using 2008 points= 9,520 avg.
Fed 2004- 12,385 using 2011 points, 6,360 using 2004 points= 9,372.5 avg.

So, Fed 06>>Nole 2011>Fed 07>Rafa 2010>Fed 05>Rafa 08>Fed 04.
