One tour title in Gstaad, 8 years in top 50, a career high of #26, wins over Nalbandian, Wawrinka, Andreev, made a QF at Roland Garros...pretty solid career, been around for almost a decade now, not bad for a guy from Romania who was not a highly touted junior. On the down side, no memorable wins, no stand out moments, can be robotic emotionally on the court. But I like his game, nice one hander, good athleticism for a 6 ft 6 in tall basketballk body type guy, steady from the baseline, good serve. You gotta admire his career. Let's hear it for Victor Hanescu!

He is solid at times and defo has a nice backhand. Hence, I should like him but I don't. That simple.

I like him and his game. He's most known for the Wimbledon spitting incident last year vs. Brands.
He's been declining the past couple of seasons. Hopefully he can maintain a top 100 ranking in 2012 but it may not happen. He's got a sweet BH when on but I disagree about his serve, it's a liability, especially at his height. That and his lack of movement have held him back but he's still very good to watch on clay.

woulda been a top player either shorter or with a serve

I dislike Victor.
Has a heart the size of a pea, and has exhibited vile behaviour down the years.
When he can be bothered he has a nice enough game, mainly on clay, albeit with obvious limitations.... but he won't be missed.

Hanescu's career in a nutshell:
- Trick shot against Llodra at USO 2010
- Spat at a crowd member in Wimbledon
He isn't adored by hundreds of people from the same extended family for no reason.

I like him because he's got good technique, nice ground-strokes, decent volley, unfortunately too weak serve given his height, but I witnessed his best service performance (against Ivanisevic at Queens Club).

The fact I don't even know what to say about him says it all.
Boring player, but with a solid career. I think he made the most of his limited abilities.

Nothing to get excited about it as he is a player that just doesn't stir up the crowd, except for being on the losing end of tight matches most of the time.
His spitting incident, not the best way to handle it but I don't blame him at all. Calling him a gypsy wanted me to see that fan get pwned.

That's true, he's got one of the worst ratios in m.p. matches among active players.

I liked it when he did this.

It's really weird that I've only seen Hanescu ever play once and that was that weird match against Brands at Wimbledon. :o
I really don't know what to think of him though, I suppose I don't like nor dislike him.
I rarely ever hear anything about him. I think I may have caught a little of some of his tennis matches before I turned the T.V. chancel. So I guess that says it all for me.
