CTF : Sela def. Stebe 6-4, 7-6(7-3)

this is kind of unexpected

obviously playing well at this point dudi is still a far suprior player to cedrik but given that dudi has been crap for pretty much the entire year i thought cedrik could have taken this one

How is this unexpected?

Sela is the better player and is higher ranked than Stebe. Also, Stebe has been poor himself the last couple of months. I think he's reached a plateau for the time being, having snuck briefly into the top 100 a couple of weeks ago.

Stebe isn't a good player indoors. Hopefully he can win a match or two at this event, though. He needs it to make Australia.

Cedrik isn't a good player indoorslike Filo said and at the end of the second set the expirence of Sela helped him to save the set points and get the Match, I highly doubt after seing him today that Cedrik wins a Match....

For some strange reason I feel that Bachinger will lose to Machado, but beat Stebe, then Stebe beats Machado. That would be funny.

It's a bit early to say Stebe isn't a good player indoors. He's barely played any matches under a roof.

But i have seen him two weeks ago in Eckental.Of course its his inexpirence,but one can clearly see that he has a bad shot selection indoors. He tries to play clay court tennis on an indoor court, with huge angles and a lot of spin, no rushing to the net. That worked beautiful in the summer, but right now he doesn't play on these slow courts...

like i said it was kind of because sela has been total crap for most of this year ..but i guess i underestimated just how awful cedrik is indoors
