Who is going?

In January I will be in Melbourne and I want to visit the Australian Open. But I have some questions about stuff I can't seem to find on the AO website. So I hope someone here can help me out.

My first question is about the tickets. I don't have any tickets yet as I don't exactly know the date I'll be in Melbourne. I'm going backpacking so i'm not sure what date we'll be in Melbourne so I don;t want to buy the tickets online yet. Also I dont want to have the tickets in my backpack all the time since it's easy to lose them that way.

But my question is: When do the pay desks open at the AO? We'll probably be in Melbourne a few days before the tournament starts. Can I buy the tickets during the qualifying event? And what times are they open? Only in the morning or the entire day?

I've been to both Wimbledon and Roland Garros. At Wimbledon we had to queue really early and could only buy tickets for that day. At RG we bought tickets on sundaymorning for the next 2 days. How does this work at the Australian Open?

Then I have 1 more question about how to get to the tournament. On the AO website it says that AO tickets holders "enjoy the FREE Yarra Trams shuttle services operating on route 70 from the CBD to Rod Laver Arena and Hisense Arena"
But I have never been to Melbourne or Australia. Can someone tell me exactly where these busses are? What is CBD? :o

I really hope someone can help me with these questions!

Thanks in advance!!!

Hey there,

Just a couple of quick questions...I'd be so grateful if you could help with these. I'm traveling to the Australian Open for the first time in January and I would love to stay in the official players hotel, it'd be really cool. Does anybody know which hotel this is? Also, does anyone have any helpful tips for the tennis event, as I've never been there before.

Many thanks,
Als.

I'm going for all two weeks of the main draw! First time, I'm quite excited about it, been wanting to go for years. I'm also interested in any tips anyone has. :)

Also, CBD just means central business district, so the bus probably goes various places in the city centre. My hotel has its own shuttle though so I don't really know.

I think the official players hotel is the Grand Hyatt

The trams leave from outside Flinders Street train station, corner of Flinders and Swanston Streets.

You can buy tickets in advance to any day.

Hello,
I don't know if this is the right place to post this thread but I'm looking to buy 2 tickets for tomorrow's mens semi final. Please PM if you sell any. :)
