Will Dolgopolov make the WTF in 2012?

He finishes this year ranked 16. If he can get some more consistency and cut out the 1st round losses that he has had at too many events this year, he can boost his ranking. He also has the skill for one deep run at a slam(quarters or semis) next year. Can he find the consistency to finish in the top 8? A lot of it will depend on how others do as well. It will be very tough, but I think he has a shot.

I really hope he won't. He's so hot and cold and can't win two great matches back to back. His game is fun to watch but not really good for a top 6-7 game.

He definitely needs better scheduling to achieve this, in my view he played too maany tournaments this year, which could well explain his up and down performances.

he needs to improve his mental strength and consistency thats what he really needs to improve on, but he has great talent and im sure he'll either make it or dont

Better scheduling, considering this disease of his which apparently gives him troubles adapting after long travels, should be the first measure he & his team should be taking. It may well do wonders to his very poor consistency in tournaments.

Hope he manages, I'd love to see him make it big. :)

I don't think he will, altough i would love that he made it, i expect him ending between #10 and #16 next year, not improving much

Nope. He's not the type of player that has that discipline and consistency. He does stupid things on key points sometimes. He'll eventually hit 10-12 but even if he made it within the top 8 I think he'd go back to 10 or something just before the tournament, just not consistent enough and his serve is suspect.

he just doesn't strike me as a player who will get all his pieces together at once. I personally think he overachieved this year so i think the ranking will drop rather than seeing him go higher.

And also would be bad for this lame sport where clowns like Fish are top 8 players.

Hell no :spit: He's consistent as my ass, it would be bad for ATP to have him ranked so high.

I did not know an ass had any consistency:p
Although I love watching him play I don't see him being a top 8 next year.

To be honest I don't give chance for him. He flashed few times in this year but he needs even better performance than that.

he definitely can if he works on that horrid scheduling and those lame ass time change sickness excuses

He can. Most people didn't see him making top 40 about 18 months ago. This guy has some extraordinary abilities, he can make magic on the court. Just needs to get stronger physically, work out his schedule, maybe work on utilizing more consistent tactics at times instead of always being on the attack. Love this guy's game. Not sure if he's really driven to be THE BEST. He's still young and forming and maturing. I read that he's working hard on his physical strength and stamina so that bodes well. That first set vs. Djokovic showed he has the talent to be top 5 in the world. But the key is to be consistent and not just play like that once or twice every few months.

if he does, it will be because he'll have one great run at a master 1000 or a GS. he sure as hell won't get there thanks to his constitancy

Well, he made the quarters in Melbourne earlier this year but then proceeded to have several uncharacteristic losses throughout the year. So I do think improved consistency is a necessity for Dogs Balls to make the WTF.

I wonder if Reader will bring him down to Australia early like he did last year so he can acclimatise to the conditions. Worked a treat last year but will be up to Dolgo if he can be bothered or not...

He's too inconsistent, so no.

Its not his problem the whole younger generation just sucks. You can see players with talent but beyond that they have nothing. No fight no determination no dedication.

I think the last driven youngster was Nadal or Nole and after that no one really.

What about Federer? He turned out pretty well.

I can't help but think of Thiemo de Bakker's fallout after a breakout year in 2010. Dolgopolov has 360 points to defend at the Aussie Open. What if he chokes like Thiemo did this year and ends up falling out of the top 100??? He has an extremely inconsistent game and one bad day could send him on a downward spiral.

He is so overrated in MTF, but I do love to watch him play. I certanly hope he gets there next year.

De Bakker only got up to 40. I don't think that's a very valid comparison.
