Patchy quality of tennis, but very dramatic match with some great clutch (and very unclutch ) play.

Jo :yeah: :D (though it should have been easier) :p

Tsonga almost had a disastrous last game, Isner had a chance on more than one of those match points to go for it. After that he got overwhelmed by Tsonga and the crowd.

Great win. He needs more of these, I want him to surpass Murray.

Isner played this match like he hoped for the errors from his opponent to win, while Tsonga who was playing way below average wanted to win it

Isner is below Futures level stamina-wise.

Boy a few of those Ana Ivanovicesque backhands on match points really hurt John. He just pushes those with too much topspin and that missed forehand off of Tsonga's 2nd serve really cost him the match.

Tsonga's first win on the main tour after saving match point. He waited very long for this given his gamestyle which produces tight matches often (90 tournaments).

If Tsonga improved his movement he could be a GS winner.

At time poorly positioned when hitting the ball and errors resulted.

Joined that small club of players to have lost serve and not broken serve themselves and won.

Good news is : we get at least 1.2 odds for Fed tommorrow. Fed vs Isner would have been like Fed vs Monaco at 1.05.

Entertaining match especially at the end when both Tsonga and Isner missed 3bp (Isner's were mp)
Still those 3mp saved by Tsonga helped his mental and made it easier in the tie-breaker
Isner really felt tired at the end but he somehow made some good shots in the 12th game of the decider... the TB was too much though

Make it a good match tommorow Jo :yeah:

Fun match. Isner playing some really good tennis this week, hope he can carry it on to next year. Cracking backhand pass to bring up a MP.

Hopefully Tsonga can make a good match of it tomorrow, better than USO anyway. He has survived Djokovic trying to Fognini him so he has nothing to lose.

Hi Dia:wavey:

It wasnt a great well played match by Tsonga but Isner wasted 3 chances to close the match at 5-6 in the 3rd set. And Tsonga is not the sort of player to give him that advantage. I like Tsonga but I hope Roger can win tomorrow.

Poor match from both, really. John played a very good 1st set, going for his shots and putting pressure on Tsonga. From the middle of the 2nd set on, he seemed to be happy with going for the tiebreak, started playing too passive. Tsonga should have been able to win with 2 easy sets from then on, but it's Tsonga. He managed to take it to two tiebreaks and almost choke at the end, with so many UEs and DFs.

Man you're so pathetic. People like you make me call Murray a downright pusher and slamless, gutless sissy, despite I respect the guy.

Funny thing though, I was a mild Fed fan before I came to MTF, like a month or two ago. But all the bullshit here has brought the things I don't like about it him into focus. I do much prefer watching him play to Nadal, regardless.

You can't deny that he's a bit fortunate to play Berdych and Tsonga after grueling 3 setters. Of course Murray was fortunate in Shanghai, only having to beat Wawrinka and Ferrer, but that was right after his Tokyo draw, which was as tough a draw as I've seen in a 500 tournament. Fed's Basel draw was a joke, you have to admit.

Hi Fran! :wavey: Well yeah, though I think Isner should have won the match but he is weak mentally at important matches. Sad.

This. But tomorrow luck won't do the job!

Let's hope. :rocker2: I'm a big Federer fan tomorrow, count with me. ;) I will be calm only if Federer takes a revenge. Usually it isn't help for me but at this time it would be great.

John simply doesn't have the mentality to be a champion. He will always be a good, a very good champion, but hardly something more.
Congrats Jowilly, but now lose to the King of Tennis, the Greatest player ever :yeah:
