Great result for the game.

Given how bad Tsonga's return is John has a huge chance tomorrow.

Isner played very well from what I managed to see. He seems like a genuinely really nice guy, I'm happy for him.

John, if you're going to beat two of my faves in a row, at least have the decency to beat Tsonga tomorrow, which you likely won't do.

David  Go home and rest for London.

Way to pick up your game at the end and get Ferrer to feel the pressure. Some of those volleys towards the end were so clutch. When John is hitting those serves, those big forehands AND makes those tough volleys too then it must feel like a mountain to climb when playing the towering mountainlike man.

I'm proud of Isner, he played fantastic and the Masters semifinal is very very good result for him. :worship: This year is fantastic for him even so how badly he started.

Anyway, I'm quite surprised, I was 100% sure about Ferru's win.

Ferru :bigcry: :crying2:

Green clay right? one of the slowest HC events on the tour, right?

Precisely, as it takes a giant like Isner to serve through the slow conditions, which also give him enough time to track down balls and stay in long rallies from the back of the court, whereas he would struggle to rally at all on a very quick surface. It's no coincidence that he and Karlovic are the two serve-reliant players who've managed to succeed on slower courts the last few years.

Shocking result for me

Would put my car on Ferrer to straightset this serving machine.
And not a single TB? :spit: John, you are losing your style.

But I have to say, Isner is not "all-serve", he can blast some nice forehands and even backhands too.

Last game was epic.

Poor match from Ferrer, though. Isner was hanging there in the hope of a 3rd set tiebreak when Ferrer gifted him a break.

noone that watched this match and is completely sane would call Isner an "all-serve mug". He defends very well for a guy his size and can strike forehand winners from pretty much anywhere.

He is. His brother said if there is somebody that doesn't like John, he hasn't met them yet. GO John! Love Ferrer but a massive win for Isner. Have trouble seeing him get by Tsonga but will be rooting for him.

Nice to see few posters have eyes.  Isner is nowhere from 'all serve' player, he is clearly not, at least in this year.
