Tomic - almost certain to. Despite his lack of motivation in small events.
Bogomolov - probably won't happen, he just isn't good enough.
Young - will probably win a mug American title like Atlanta or Delray Beach.
Dimitrov - I think he probably will. Step up now, please! :p
Starace - deserves one, but I doubt he will. Still, given Tipsy, Mayer and Seppi were able to win one this year, he still might.
Fognini - will probably win a mug clay court title like one of the South American tournaments, Casablanca, one of the July ones or Bucharest.
Falla - could go on a tear somewhere, but I'm not betting on it.
Harrison - see Young. However, he might win somewhere else, too.
Berlocq - He doesn't even win much ATP level matches, let alone go deep enough in a tournament.

Other possibilities:

Benneteau - surely he's gotta win sometime?
Giraldo - see what I said about Fognini.
Ramos - ditto.
Muller - has he won one? Might get one on a quick court.

My guess is that there'll be a random one though. I mean, who would've thought that Dodig, Raonic and Sweeting would've won ATP titles at the end of last year?

I think Raonic was exception this year. So, i don't think all of these young guns will win their first titles. (Tomic, Harrison and Dimitrov) Maybe one of them can win, but not two of three or all of them.

Benneteau, Fognini and Tomic have the best chances. Giraldo I think has a chance at Santiago again, maybe Acapulco if he's really hot in form. Tomic can win an event like Eastbourne and if he does better with his motivation at smaller events, he can win somewhere like Los Angeles. Benneteau will always have chances to win a title on all surfaces, his mental toughness is the big question for him. I think Fabio for sure gets at least one title. I think his best chances are the pre-French and post-Wimbledon clay events.

I wouldn't put it past Harrison to win a title, maybe at Delray Beach or LA, somewhere like that. I think the chances are below 50% but realistic.

The other men mentioned in this thread will not win a title, and some of them will never win a title.

We have to be talking about really low level for Berlocq to win a clay title. Like, Santiago where half the field isn't top 100. In any quality ATP event, he wouldn't make finals let alone win an event.

SVK
11-11-2011, 03:42 PM
Starace out of nowhere might finally win something...as for others, we will have probably some surprising winners (like Sweeting etc) from someone who is ranked outside TOP 100...hard to say an example right now, you never now who will rise suddenly throughout the seasson.

Sweeting really got handed the title, more than actually winning it with good play. I think it's quite clear that was a fluke and it takes a lot of luck to win a title in those situations.

With that said, I like Berlocq too, it would be nice to see him winning a title. Also I want to see Poto winning a title. They've been around forever and deserve a payoff.

young could be the first one next year if he can blend his tennis with some patience......there are ample opportunities in america in the early season after australian open with so many tiny mug events lined up......

tomic's turn will come a little later in the season......harrison will have to wait for an indefinite period......fognini is too inconsistent to win any title......dimitrov will have done exceedingly well if he reaches quarterfinals of 250 events, forget about titles......bogmolov jr. wins if he gets lucky somewhere......starace, falla and berlocq are not winning anything......

Of players not on the list, I'd add Gilles Muller.

Newport is a great spot for a first-timer. Dimitrov or Harrison (who won his doubles title there this year) could win that one.

That US Clay event would be a great spot for Bogo. If fricking Wayne Odesnik and Ryan Sweeting can win that, surely Bogo could.

Maybe Young can win a title. I'm still amazed he's already made the Bangkok final (neither a Mickey Mouse 250 or even in the United States).

I can see Giraldo or even Falla winning a 250 clay event - maybe in the South America swing or that lull after Wimbledon.

I can't see Fognini (what happened in Roland Garros will stay his career highlight), Starace, or Berlocq ever winning a title.

Lacko and Berlocq could do it tomorrow. I haven't seen Berlocq play in Viña del Mar, but I saw Pico and he choked big time against Chardy: from 4-0 to 4-4 in the second. Eventually he pulled himself together and won. But if berlocq is on fire, he could take Pico down.

There has only been 1 winner this season, therefore it's the latest 1st title winner since this thread was started.

Look at all the previous winners. All of them were before the autumn indoor season.

Oh whoops, you mean't it in that context. My bad.

Speaking of which, not a great look for the rest of the tour.

I also dont think we will get anyone else for the rest of the year. Next year maybe Tomic and Goffin can get one.
