the last 2 years federer has been defeated by frenchies in paris (R2 loss v. benneteau in '09, SF loss v. Monfils in '10). Now, can lionheart Richard complete the French trifecta?

h2h 8-2 in fed's favour. last match in rome this year, richie won 4-6, 7-6(2), 7-6(4).

I would say Richie but he's still very rusty, only has 1 match under his belt after a 2 month lay off but his last match vs Fed should give him some confidence.

AGAIN!? I love Roger and dislike Gasquet, but this is too much  They both should go further in this tournament.
Maybe Riky this time... after all it's France :)

That hasn't helped the other French players.

I mean Federer for sure. I love Gasquet and I want him to win some masters titles but he has just been out of action too much lately

I'm going with my boy Richie- good stuff last match, and a recent win over Fed on clay... every ones talking about how slow this court is right? That should give Gasquet more time on his back hand. If the Parisians get involved enough, it could be a good match. Fed hates it when people root for someone other than him.

The French are lining up to take on Fed. One by one they'll get tossed aside.

Richie hasn't played enough lately. Rog in 2.

Richie looked good taking on Anderson (one of the few times he bothered to play well this year).
However, Roge has too much form.
Fed in straight. If he daydreams too much, then there might be a 7-5 or a 7-6 set.

Federer 6-3 6-0.
Gasquet has been incredibly disappointing since that pathetic loss against Murray at Wimbledon, even considering his injuries. He will never learn.

NID :haha: :haha:

Roger can win in straights but if he brainfarts then Richie has a good shot to take him out in 3.

These Federer names are getting stupider and stupider and less imaginative.

If Gasquet had played at all lately, I would give him a shot due to the crowd and their last match. As it is, I say Roger in two close sets.

Tight? come on. Fed will win in 2 easy sets, 6-2 6-3.

Gasquet was on fire in Rome, and that match was perfect, just great tennis.
Fed's playing better than that match, and Gasquet worse. I don't see Richard extending the match more than an hour.
