Will Verdasco ever be a top 10 player again?

After that run to the SF in AO 09, Verdasco was top 10 for much of that year, and 2010 as well. This year he has regressed to a more realistic ranking, but my question is this:

Will he ever get back to top 10 in the world?

I voted for no. I don't agree with either option for no though because he did belong in the top 10 for quite a while when he was there I think while I don't think he'll ever even fluke a MS 1000.

"Divadasco" :haha:

To answer the question, my vote will be "no", unless he finally quits being so vain as he apparently is, seemingly spending more time being worried at his hairdo than about training.

He is able to do it but he seems like who doesn't care at all, sometimes. Probably he needs few good results for self-confidence, then everything will be easier. I really believe that he will. :cool:
Btw I voted for the third possibility.

The bottom of the top 10 is pretty wide open. After Berdych, there are openings. Tsonga isn't the most consistent and although he's been healthy this season, he still is an injury risk. Fish could be a flash in the pan, I don't think so, but can he be top 10 again? Questionable. Almagro and Tipsarevic aren't top 10 players, in all reality. Del Potro is still climbing back to the level he was pre-wrist injury.

So, the opportunity is there. The top 4 are on a complete different level in comparison to everyone else. With all of this said, no, I don't think Verdasco can be top 10 again, he's not good enough nor mentally solid enough. His serve absolutely must improve or he'll be around 15-25 again in 2012.

agree. He was worthy of being in the Top 10 then. But there's nothing now that indicates he'll get back into the Top 10 or win a 1000 title.

It's not open for players like Verdasco. After the top 4 you have guys like Del Po, Soderling, Tsonga, Roddick, Berdych, Monfils, Dolgopolov, Wawrinka, Gasquet. All these players are much better than Verdasco.

Almagro and Tipsarevic are near the top 10 because they took advantage of the ranking system flaws. Tipsarevic counts 6 atp 250 tournaments as opposed to the other top 30 players who count only 2 or 3. Next year he won't be able to do that.

No he won't and he never belonged there. He has one above average shot and the rest of his game is pretty much crap.

Fernando Verdasco is one of the most disgusting players on the tour in terms of spoiled brat behavior. He has disgraced the Armada with his filthy behavior. He threw a tantrum after losing to Raonic and spat on court after losing to Rafa. His drop in the rankings was well-deserved. He played one good match in his life and thought he was a big deal. The very next year, he played an error-ridden embarrassment of a match against Davydenko, a nightmare of double faults on both sides.

They all are better overall players than Verdasco but that doesn't mean they will have seasons better than Verdasco is capable of. Monfils and Tsonga (and looking more and more like Del Potro as well) are injury prone, Roddick is declining, Soderling has been out for a long time and is coming off sickness, which we've seen takes a while to come back from, and the other players are players who go on cold streaks. Verdasco is pretty much in the same level with these guys, also include Simon, Cilic, Isner, Melzer when 100%, Ljubicic when 100%, Mayer, potentially Raonic. The isn't much of a difference in overall level between any of these guys.

I just don't think Nando is capable of filling the hole when all is said and done.
