no. Dodig will beat whoever the lucky loser is.

Slow court doesn't particularly help him, but you have to think that Dodig has a solid chance if Djokovic's shoulder really is falling off. Depends how bad the injury is...Nole thrashed Kubot with it last week, and almost did enough to beat Nishikori in straights.

I thought he wasn't playing for some reason...a loss in Paris and another loss at WTF possibly and say goodbye to Novaks season winning %.

As far as I know Nole hasn't appeared in Paris yet.

Fitness or finances? Finances always prevails over common sense. Dodig may well be the worst possible opponent to face with injury issues. The shoulder is already creaking off its hinges, grinding with the human bollocks isn't going to help.

Dodig will take him out. If my memory serves correct, I think Dodig has a heavy serve, will damage Djokovic's shoulders to the point of retirement.

Anyone can beat Novak in his current state. Dunno why he is not saving self for WTF. This is a major miscalculation, even worse than Basel.

If he decides to play, his shoulder must be alright for a few matches. The few days rest between his last match and now may have been enough. In that case Djokovic wins in 2. If he doesn't decide to play, Tennis wins.

Put those pitchforks down Nole fans, I kid. I meant Dodig wins. Which equates to a victory for tennis.

Two minutes ago on official twitter account:

Djoko est arrivé! Il va s'entrainer sur le court 2 dans quelques minutes [@DjokerNole is here. He's going to practice on court 2 now]

Nole should win in 2, but he may be rusty, Dodig could take a set if he serves well

Given Djokovic is playing I assume his shoulder has recovered.

If he retires injured or does what he did in the 3rd set in Basle I would consider it would indicate a very poor assessment and management of his physical condition and not very professional.

Serbian newspapers report that Nole will lose 1,6 million dollars if he dont play Paris.
How many of us on the forum would not have thought twice before give up :):)

How many of us on the forum have earned over 30 million in prize money alone is the real question. Judging by the way we talk I can only presume it is over 49%, give or take 49%.

If I had 30 millions on my account I wouldn't give a crap about 1 milion, considering having serious shoulder issues and the prospect of playing WTF.

Djokovic is going to show up and serve underhanded, losing in straights 3 and 4.

djokovic would be an idiot to actually show up and play here, he has to take care of himself

1 million dollars is really nothing to him at this point

1 million dollar is 1 million dollar. For everybody.

1 million dollars hurts alot less when your a multi millionaire. really, from his earnings this year alone its change

and in either case money should not come before health

Its not 1 million,it is exactly 1.6 millions. Big money regardless of the balance in the bank. And that money can be earned easily, 1:6 1:6 ,who cares?

1.6 million dollars is a FIFTH of all the prize money Djokovic has gained so far in his historic year. To give you an idea by itself it's half the total prize money Federer made this whole year.

All this just to get on court and lose 3 and 4 to Dodig.

whatever, the whole original point was that he shouldnt let money affect his decisions about his health.

He will start the match.
If he loses a set to Dodig, he will retire.
If he manages to win the first set (and if his shoulder is not too bad) I think he'll win the match.

The slow surface will help negate Dodig's serve, and he won't be able to attack the net with much success like he did against Nadal in Montréal.

I think the whole thing comes down to how well he's able to serve. I think his shoulder will be good enough to play a few matches this week, but if his serve disappears, he's going to get beaten.

Novak is going to end the year number one. All he needs is to play one or two matches to get 1.6 million bonus. He already has Paris and the WTF so let Fed and Murray duke it out.

He should not play the Paris Masters. he had an incredible year in 2011. the Best year any of the Tennis player had since i started watching in 1991, Regardless of 2004 Fedtards say. He has nothing more to prove this year.

He should give that shoulder some rest. there are way more important battles ahead including whipping the cane back on federer and nadal once fit.

But anyways its his and his team decision. All i could say is Go Novak. Burn the floor.:armed:
