Abu Dhabi Exhibition event has announced the participation of Djokovic, Nadal, Federer, Ferrer, Tsonga and Monfils which will likely result in those 5 playing the Qatar Open as well. Bedych and Fish have also committed to Hopman Cup which virtually leaves one top 8 player available for Brisbane International. If anyone is wondering Murray is not playing Hopman Cup in 2012.

If we take a look at history it would seem Murray is headed to Brisbane for the following reasons:

1. Murray has begun the last two years in Australia and it has resulted in Australian Open finals so you would think he would stick with the theme of starting the year in Australia.

2. Brisbane International has been able to attract at least one top 8 player each year since its' inception by paying big appearance fees to at least one player. (2009 - Djokovic(3), 2010 - Roddick(7), 2011 - Soderling (5).)

3. Brisbane International has recently upgraded to a bigger event on the womens tour and would be keen to attract a big male player to accompany the likes of Serena and Sharapova.

It is definitely looking like Murray will head to Brisbane and I am not just saying that because I am Australian and I want him to play Brisbane. I genuinely think he will come after the little bit of study I have done into the situation.

There is a nice chance for that. At least I hope.

I think so, but I don't think Djokovic will play Doha

You've got a good point. I guess he will probably play an event in Australia, just not sure which one it is. Either Brisbane or Sydney.

When will the entry lists come out?

21st of November is when the entry lists for Brisbane, Doha and Chennai come out. Hopefully we see Murray on that list but you would think they would announce it before it becomes official if they did get him.

Didn't Soderling play Abu Dhabi this year and then fly to Brisbane? Not saying any of those players will play there but it can be done.

Yeah still the possibility we might see a big name or two from Abu Dhabi. Baghdatis also entered for both last year. Hopefully the WTA upgrade does not brıng a large quantıty of WTA tards to the venue.

Robin had planned to play in Doha, but most likely he will miss Doha too, because of illness. He still can't start training due to illness, so he can't plan his schedule for 2012 :(

Andy Murray will start his 2012 season at the Brisbane International in January.
The world No.3 and three-time Grand Slam finalist will join a host of tennis stars in what is shaping up to be the strongest Brisbane International line-up to date.

It seemed to make total sense to me? Maybe it was just more so wishful thinking on my behalf :haha:. If you want another Brisbane related prediction I think eventually Brisbane will become an ATP500 event. I know that is a big call but there are several factors as to why it may become a 500 event in the future. Anyway for now I am happy with Murray.
