Yes, but I don't personally care about him. Who I want to see win the most is Hajek.

The list looks good on paper but I don't think it's that great. A lot of these guys are in poor form, aren't good on HC, or are just mediocre in general. I think one of Berrer, Mannarino or Lacko win this event and maybe Berankis if he's not too injured. I think Kubot, Stakhovsky and Istomin lose early.

You don´t choose if you want to play Challenger Tour Finals. It works the same way as World Tour Finals, you have to qualify by earning Challenger Tour points

Rycka has choked a lot of matches, but he keeps getting really good draws. He has a great draw again here in Bratislava and should go deep.

The first quarter is by far the toughest. Igor can't buy a good draw, and Michi needs the win as much as Igor does. Hopefully Igor wins, and then goes deep.

Dancevic def. Vesely 64,60

Dancevic with a solid perfomance here, his strong serve works very good on this fast surface.
Also he show some good backhand winners today.
Vesely could make a couple of good shots in the first set, but then we was broken in the first
game of the second set and then he lost concentration and maybe his passion to show some decent tennis here.
But i like his game, he tried to force a lot of winners...very attacking style...
Maybe next year he will make some good results on Challengers.

Would love to see Vesely making some progress, but month by month I believe it less and less. His ranking is crap, he took one future at home, but other results in futures are dreadful. Dancevic was good today, Vesely has decent shots, I like this style, but he is struggeling to find the court with it. His junior position was reached by beating mainly younger players, he is 18, he has to start winning the futures to make challenger very soon....

Lacko has so much potential, he was absolutely killing Kubot.
Kubot just didn´t know what to play against him. Absolutely dominant performance from Lukas in all aspects of game.
2nd round against Jan Hajek will be a tough test, both players played really excellent matches in first round.
Lacko is at home, Hajek is also very well adapted in Bratislava, I would say that this match is wide open and I am unable to predict it...

I did. And so interesting, everybody plays his best against Kubot recently... No, I don't believe it's random. Though Lacko played really fantastic today (I was surprised with his performance) Kubot was terrible compared to himself. I expected he loses this match but I didn't think two games all he wins.

Wimbledon plays like a clay court, and yes, Kubot is a clay courter, if you look at his results. He needs time to enact his gamestyle, quick indoors doesn't give him that time. Plus his serve is vulnerable.

Filo V.
11-16-2011, 03:22 PM
Frank was (and is) the significantly better player. Ebden played well on the big points the first two sets and Frank got down on himself after losing the first set, and fell behind in the second. However, overall, he played a good match, aggressive, good serving. Good win for him in the end.

Filo V.
11-16-2011, 03:23 PM
Jaziri is better than I thought he was, at least based on the past couple of weeks watching him play, his forehand is a good shot and he seems to have good court sense. I still really don't understand why so many on this forum support him, though. He's alright, but nothing special in any way. The fact he's approaching top 100 to me is a total joke.

Kovalik - Zeballos 7-6, 1-0... I´m really impressed by 18-years old Kovalik, kid showed some great winners, consistency and confidence in 1st set. He was serving for the set, but Zeballos came back at 6-6. Argentinian had some momentum going into TB and was up 4-1 there(with two MBs). Kovalik then absolutely took control and won TB by 7-4. Still a long way to victory for the youngster, he actually missed some BPs.

Lacko d. Hajek 7-6, 6-2. Lukas was clearly better player, he had full control of the match everytime. Lacko was better in every aspect of the game, was playing very variable and creative tennis. He was hitting winners from everywhere. So, Lukas just did what he had to do today with defeating Hajek and Michael Berrer is next. It´s not the easieśt thing in the world, but Lukas Lacko really looks like the best player in this event so far, so he should win also this one. Lukas Lacko probably will be a very dangerous player in 2012. Shame this season is almost over, but if he could win this title here, it would be relatively acceptable season for Lukas.

Jan tried his best, just got outplayed by the better player on this surface. Still am enthused with Jan's level, on clay, he would be going deep in draws. As for Lacko he's playing well. I hope Michi beats him but it will be difficult.

Apart from winning their singles matches, Berankis and Mannarino beat the doubles top seeds, Cerretani and Mertinak, 16 62 10-3. They are both playing in the doubles quarterfinals later today against de Schepper and Teixeira. Hope they win!

:D Mannarino UE after UE, he was somewhere else, not on the court. Berankis was only one who was fighting in this couple ... the opponents also haven`t played well, De scheeper is out of form, but he was concetrating for the serves, Teixeira`s serve was very easy to return, Berankis made almost everything he wanted with it, Mannarino blew a lot of returns of this serve in the air

I have lost a lot of money betting Berankis/Mannarino and it`s another time when the match shows that doubles in challengers are treated like for fun for a lot of players, especially these betters ... WRR :o

Dancevic is playing great today, and only dropped 12 points on his serve in the 75 62 victory. Dancevic met Lacko two weeks ago and Lacko was just as good in that match despite losing in straights.

I am hoping for a Dancevic - Stakhovsky final.

My problem is I like Berrer and Berrer would have been top 100 with the win. I don't care for Lacko, so therefore, this result doesn't please me.

Rycka has a good return and good timing on his shots, so if anyone can keep with Rosol playing like this, it's Berankis. But he's making too many errors which he cannot afford to do. He can't make any errors at all. His forehand is too wonky.

Berankis 1/15 in second serve points won, it will be hard to win if it continues like that...

Filo V.
11-19-2011, 12:53 PM
The first serve percentage isn't bad for Berankis, it's around 60%. The fact he's winning 7% of second serve points is what is costing him.

Really, just cut down on the errors and make Rosol play extended points. All he has to do.

Top 50 is obviously an overreach, but he can be a top 80-120 player consistently. If you look at the top 50 as it stands currently, almost all have a tried and true weapon at their disposal. Lacko does not. He's decent at many things but outstanding at nothing.

That easy BH miss at *6-4 in the tiebreaker cost him. Rycka just made a few too many errors throughout the set. Berankis' level is overall higher but he has less consistency.

He's always been mental midget... Great example of choking. Maybe he just like 3setters.

First Lacko let Berankis off the hook, as he blew setpoints at *5-6. Then Berankis returned the favour. Four setpoints gone, with three being on his own serve.

C'mon Rycka!

Rycka has a decent chance of winning still, if he starts the second set well.

Really frustrating for Berankis...
Let's hope he will repeat the story as on last 3 matches after losing the first set and eventually winning those matches.

Well well. No worry he will get the break back soon but still will find a way to loose in the end.

and there it is

its so f*king enraging

to go from 6-3 and 7-6 on his serve in that tiebreak and then blow all 4 points and then get broken to start

on top of that it puts one of the players i really cant stand the lost close to the top 100 again if he does lose this. you have rycka who wants to be top 100 and lacko who doesnt seem to give a shit either way

Well, once again Rycka has put himself in a bad position. Can he dig himself out this time? He can break Lacko but Lacko is playing above himself. Gonna be difficult. This can get ugly very fast.

i dont think i can watch this any longer

and rycka is fast becoming one of those players you hate to follow in some ways

Lacko won't finish top 100 this season, the damage this does is that it means Rycka has to win the tournament next week to keep his top 100 spot. If he wins this event, then all he may need is a SF or so.
