Good luck to the old baldy, he's a former champ and the surface definitely suits his game.

I'm not his biggest fan, but this probably means Andre wants to make a run to Houston, which is a good thing :yeah:

Didn't Roddick spend the week playing exhibitions? Strange.

Are Hewitt/Federer playing?

That's not a good news for the Hippo :o

Hewitt and Roddick are out? Why?
Federer questionnable?...What does it mean?? ...Madrid is a great tourny

Its clay. They probably want to conserve energy for where they have a chance . Here, the evidence suggests that roddick/hewitt will lose a lot of energy just getting deeper into the rounds, and lose before the Semis anyway.

Its not on clay, Mitalidas. Only Rome, Monte Carlo and Hamburg are on clay of the TMS tournaments.

Hewitt said earlier that he was playing only a light schedule after the US Open, since he had already qualified for Houston. He listed only Paris and Tokyo as definites. Right now, he's on vacation in Australia, game-fishing in the north with one of his footy pals.

I don't know what's up with the other guys, but if the top guys want to rest up before Houston, that makes a lot of sense to me. I still think one of the best things that could happen to tennis would be to push the Masters Cup into early October, and then have no more tournaments until January.

Thanks for the info, Socket. :wavey:

I don't see what the big deal is if players want to skip Madrid. Everybody seems to have their eye on the big prize right now where the rankings will be solidified: TMC Houston.
