Jay Andrijic

Date of birth: 3rd Oct 1995
Born and resides: Sydney
Plays: Right Handed (Single Handed Backhand)
20-0 record in ITF junior events this year, ranked 178 (19 July 2011)
Six month lay-off after breaking toe in the Junior Davis Cup final in Mexico in September 2010

“We were captained by former doubles star Mark Woodforde in the Junior Davis Cup and he was a great inspiration for me. It was a good experience to sit with him and share his experience at the top level,”

“A lot of people, including Mark, have told me I have what it takes to become a professional.

“My aim this year is to move up the rankings to qualify for next year’s junior major tournaments and represent Australia in the Junior Davis Cup again.

Good luck to Jay.
Who was the old JA? Surely you are not diving into ancient history?

The old J.A. is John Alexander, probably known better for his commentating skills :) than his tennis career.

Also kind of went unnoticed but he won the junior boys doubles tittle at the AO with Bradley Mousley.

Yeah - I was following that. Well done Jay and Brad - a Junior Grand Slam title is something of which to to be proud.

I feel some solid singles results aren't too far off for Jay. He qualified and made the 2nd round of F2 this week, before falling to 7th seed Andrea Arnaboldi 6-7(5) 7-6(5) 6-3. Hopefully he can make a Futures quarter-final soon.

Good result for Jay. Glad for him as he is a very personable young person.
Pity it had to be against Bolt, who is also a good player and likable person.
Now for the next round Jay.

LOL I was just re-reading my opening post and realised my mistake a mere 6 hours after you did.

Go Jay. Good result against Jasika. Had two match points on Jasika's serve at 61,54 15-40 but Jasika saved them. Jay got it to the breaker, was up a break at 4-2 in the TB. Jasika got it back to 5-5, then Jay thankfully closed it out at 8-6. After losing those matchies Jay did well to stay focussed and bring home the win.
Good luck today Jay.

Jay loses out to Saville in the semis 46 75, with a decent enough showing for the 18 year-old. He can be proud of his results/effort this week and hopefully build on it

Jay misses out on a main draw wild card for the Melbourne Challenger which I actually think is fair enough given how many wild cards he's received in the last two years (Bernie and Sydney1 Challengers this year for instance).

TA obviously not pushing youth again. Flip, flop. WC for old man Guccione over the younger talent...
