Is Del Potro more respected in the tennis community than Djokovic and Murray?

(In the tennis community, would you say Del Potro is more respected than Djokovic and Murray? I think his victory over Fedal in 2009 US Open lifted his status to a level so high that results thereafter almost didn't matter. He had proven something that nobody else has)

You mean by the players? I don't see how we could ever possibly know the answer to that.

If you mean "by internet tennis fans who judge your worth solely by how many grand slam titles you have", DelPo should be respected less than Djoker and more than Murray.

If you mean "by fans of DelPo", then yes, DelPo is more respected than Djokovic or Murray.

Well, he did win a slam against Fedal (Rafa in SF, the goat in the F), which should put his reputation above Murray's (no slam). Not so sure about Djoko (2 slams, but both against non-Fedal, so one could argue -somewhat unfairly- that they prove less).

His injury helps his reputation, I mean nobody makes fun of a slam winner if he is on a slump after serious injury (unless the guy is Nadal, of course, in which case people will insult him even after taking 3 in a row).

He had to beat Federer both times to get there.

Yes.

He's a dangerous dangerous player on all surfaces. He's no mug serving or taking on the shots.

He also beat a Very, very good Federer at the USO in 5 setter. Really was a brilliant performance.

i don't think he's respected more than djokovic, bullzilla......djokovic has proved himself on all surfaces(even on grass there's no question about his ability), won a couple of slams, had a great streak going, where as del potro still struggles to put any impressive shows on the natural surfaces......injury is another issue but i don't think he likes grass and also he has not reached the expectations people had him on clay......

one thing for sure, he's definitely respected more than murray......

Federer did play awful in that final. Delpo is clutch though, probably more so than Djok or Murray

I think he has to regain the previous respect he had, and prove that he is the same player he was

Last year Del Potro was more respected than Djokovic and Murray because of the incridible epic win over Federer in the final of US Open.

But now Djokovic is more respected because have 2 Slams, more than 40 victories in a row and will became Number 1 on this year.

lol @ Murray being respected. You can't respect an ugly slamless thug with a dislikable family and horrible attitude. I can name dozens of players that warrant more respect than Murray. HE's one of the least respected players on tour, certainly among top players.

I respect plenty of ugly people. And let's face it, Djokovic's the only guy in the top five with a decent-looking face. Rafa's got muscles, Fed's got grace, but neither one of them are what you'd call great beauties.

I'm also not quite sure what makes Murray a thug, or his family unlikable. I do agree that he's slamless and occasionally has a bad attitude, though.

I would say yes. He beat both Nadal and Federer to win his grand slam. He destroyed Rafa and he beat Fed in 5 at USO final. First non Rafa Fed GS final defeat. Very impressive. Djokovic beat monofed in 2008 and Tsonga... Then in 2011 he beat Federer and beat a brainfarter Murray.

(No offense to Djokovic's face, but it does look like a shemale. It's just a really off-putting face as if he's done something to make him look slightly female-

I always look away from the screen when Djokovic's face has a close-up. And he has such psychotic on-court behavior, has to be the most disliked number2 ever, and gets a lot of boos at all slams)

I don't know what you mean, since you didn't specify, but you're welcome to your feelings about it.

But really, he's the only one of the top five who has a pretty good face (and even he's not all that attractive). I'm certainly not saying he's the most likable... in fact, my point was that good looks or lack thereof have nothing to do with whether someone is respectable, likable, or possesses any other good quality. Hence saying that someone isn't respectable because they're "ugly" is a completely baffling statement.

(Rafa leads Del Potro 5-3, and I'm certain Rafa will make that 6-3 tomorrow, after seeing all he matches of both players here at Wimbledon. All 3 of Del Potro's wins in the h2h came in 2009, which happens to be Rafa's worst year, but I give the benefit of the doubt to Del Potro and assume he would have won against a prime and healthy Rafa anyway, because having watched all Del Potro's matches during that stretch I was extremely impressed. So I do think his defeat of Fedal is historically an indication of his budding greatness which will probably exceed Djok and Murray)

(btw I'm not saying Djokovic is unattractive, I'm just saying he's extremely off-putting. I've never been able to tell if a male is attractive or unattractive, because I am a male and can only judge females. So I'm not judging Djokovic in terms of that, but just saying probably since the year he came on tour I've found his face very off-putting like in the way you look at a horror movie, or as I said before a shemale)

Well, Nole did beat Fed in last year's USO and this years AO semi finals. Del Potro derserves much respect for his USO win, but not more than Nole. Delpo does seem more popular here, which thankfully, is NOT the real world-LOL!!

Del Potro is more respected than Nadal. Ask any player who they hate playing the most. The answer at the top of their list is almost always Nadal.

Everyone hates his play style.

How does he have a dislikable family? because his Mum supports her son from the sidelines?! because his brother plays doubles and not chess? what absolute garbage. I'm not even going to get into the "dozens of players" that warrant more respect.. like who? Almagro? Seppi? embarrassing.
