Hi guys, this thread is about "missing players". I mean all those players who've disappeared in those years... more or less famous.

Add her to Golovin. But we digress.

Impossible to play tennis when all you can think about is Stepanek's worm.

He is still top 500 and 38 years old.

I know, it's the fact he's still playing and competing, but at a much lower level, one that is hardly reported or publicised at all. And in response to your username and my favourite player 10 years ago: Gambill. Perfect example, I always used to wonder what had happened to him

Vince Spadea, I know he is pretty old but he just vanished from the tour two years ago.

Prakash Amritraj. I liked how he played few years ago in Newport, real good grasscourt tennis. He played last year in Wimbledon quali and then just disappeared.

He was injured and is now trying to work his way back via Futures. His name is Jimmy Wang on the draw sheets though.

Ok, but there were still lots of articles about Dupuis the last few years.

The King had back problems and then a complication after the surgery. He should be back soon...

Robin Vik, had the talent but not the right attitude. Prinosil tried his best with him and got him to the top 60 but he fell away after that. I'm not sure but he might have had injury problems as well, does anyone know?

Can't think of anyone properly famous, though there is that French guy Eysseric who pushed Murray to 5 sets at the French Open in 2008. He hasn't pushed on at all in the rankings.

Vik had retired for a year or so and then came back, but sucked.

Ahh thanks for that mate. Had a good start to 2006 where he should have beaten Hewitt in the Australian Open and then beat Berdych and Tipsy in Dubai. Just couldn't push on after that it seems...

Robby Ginepri. Ginepri is in draw the Winnetka Challenger this week. ;)

Ginepri was in an accident (motorcycle I think) and is making his return from injury this week.

Zack Fleishman... came back for Wimbledon qualies a fortnight ago after being absent on the tour for a couple of years. His last event before that was the qualies at the 2009 US Open. Remember him beating Gonzalez in LA a few years back and the hair at the AO in 2007 was classic stuff.

Korolev? Wasn't he supposed to be the next Safin until he defected to Kazakhstan?

Korolev was injured for the back end of last season and had surgery on his elbow which had been playing up for a long time. Is on his way back this year, grinding it out on the challenger circuit but the elbow is still giving him troubles and he has retired in his last couple of events. They are very annoying injuries.

Safina .....

Typical women, the have no attention span whatsoever. They get into a thing, get bored and just drop it. The short attention span is also to blame for the women's choking and losing matches they really shouldn't be losing. Face it: the WTA is a joke. It's not real tennis.

Scott Oudsema is in business school at the University of Michigan. I was actually a TA for one of the econ classes he took. And I think he was helping coach U of M's tennis team.

Safina has back problems (she 's taking a break for a while from tennis), while Myskina simply retired.

Coria, his mental strength disappeared and he retired too early IMO.

Stop talking :bs:

Safina hasn't played because she has a serious back injury. She's working on rehabilitation to be able to come back and play again.
