Hi guys, this thread is about "missing players". I mean all those players who've disappeared in those years... more or less famous.

I know, it's the fact he's still playing and competing, but at a much lower level, one that is hardly reported or publicised at all. And in response to your username and my favourite player 10 years ago: Gambill. Perfect example, I always used to wonder what had happened to him

Kristian Pless

The King had back problems and then a complication after the surgery. He should be back soon...

Robin Vik, had the talent but not the right attitude. Prinosil tried his best with him and got him to the top 60 but he fell away after that. I'm not sure but he might have had injury problems as well, does anyone know?

Can't think of anyone properly famous, though there is that French guy Eysseric who pushed Murray to 5 sets at the French Open in 2008. He hasn't pushed on at all in the rankings.

Ahh thanks for that mate. Had a good start to 2006 where he should have beaten Hewitt in the Australian Open and then beat Berdych and Tipsy in Dubai. Just couldn't push on after that it seems...

Zack Fleishman... came back for Wimbledon qualies a fortnight ago after being absent on the tour for a couple of years. His last event before that was the qualies at the 2009 US Open. Remember him beating Gonzalez in LA a few years back and the hair at the AO in 2007 was classic stuff.

Korolev? Wasn't he supposed to be the next Safin until he defected to Kazakhstan?

Korolev was injured for the back end of last season and had surgery on his elbow which had been playing up for a long time. Is on his way back this year, grinding it out on the challenger circuit but the elbow is still giving him troubles and he has retired in his last couple of events. They are very annoying injuries.

ATP players have a good shelf-life. WTA players just disappear.

Typical women, the have no attention span whatsoever. They get into a thing, get bored and just drop it. The short attention span is also to blame for the women's choking and losing matches they really shouldn't be losing. Face it: the WTA is a joke. It's not real tennis.

Fish seems very like Soderling - late career surge then suddenly disappears with mystery health complaint.

Baker can't seem to shake the knee problem, last I heard. Bad injury Aus last season, made his comeback for the US (perhaps too early?), not been seen since. Unfortunately that's pretty much the story of his career: very nasty injury that takes ages to properly heal.

Brendan Evans...US player, I think he won doubles of every junior GS and was near top 100 in singles, then disappeared a few years ago

He officially retired in July 2011 due to a string of injuries that his body was to weak to manage after a virus infection in 2009.

Lately he's been in the news for a conflict with his ex-girlfriend and erotic model Meike Schulte (http://boeken.blog.nl/files/2009/08/meikeschulteplaymate.jpg), who had accused him of domestic violence. The accusations turned out to be false.
