Actually, there is a point. The point is that his ranking is now high enough to play more ATP events without WC's, to make GS events without qualifying, and some 250 events directly as well as 500 qualifying events.

Great accomplishment for the youngster, and with as little as he has to defend through the rest of the year, a top 70 or so finish is definitely possible.

Someone will tell him and they will give him the link :)

But Credit to Robin for sticking it out and taking his lumps. A lot of players would have walked off the court.

Amazing he isn't already in top 100. What has he been doing all this time? Isn't he the best thing it could ever happened since he's 16? He was banned for a while + lost early in GS events? Seems like he wasted some time since that age with off court distractions.

This is just the beggining, my friends... Just the beggining.

This is really his first full season of playing a large quantity of ATP/high-level challenger events. He's progressed quickly. I like him but I expect his bandwagon to be insane now.

And the impressive shit is he's still very, very young.
(According to theactual player's level).
I mean, Raonic is one of the youngest talents and he's 20.
What would Tomic 2 in 2 years?

Well... We know how this sport is, maybe he makes some noise here in Wimbledon 2011 and tomorrow he's the biggest mug ever.

Growing spurts. His team were sensible to not overplay him while he was still changing a lot.

well i think berankis and dimitrov were both in the same postion as harrison and tomic this year and really neither of those guys went on with it yet so it will be interresting to see where they will stand in the rankings come end of the year

Berankis has been injured basically the entire year, but he proved at the AO that he can perform. Also he should have beaten Melzer at last years' US Open and would have beaten Verdasco at IW had he not hurt himself. IMO he's the best of the youngsters currently.

Tomic has to prove he can reproduce these results on HC. He's shown he can play on grass these last few years, and in Australia he does well, but can he do it on hardcourts? We'll see.

This kid is only 18, that's quite a feat. He definitely will have chances against Malisse to reach the QF.

I only hope he's not a 1x time wonder. I mean he came from an outstanding junior background, so I hope unlike the 100x of junior champs that disappear, that this one will stay alive. Tennis needs more competition.

I'd be grateful if he took out Malisse.

The guy is good. A future major winner for sure. Forget the top 100, think top 5.

LOL Tomic is 10 times a bigger talent than Berankis. They're not in the same league. And I don't give a shit (as Fed would say) how they played in juniors. Tomic got everything to be on the top, just needs to be more aggressive at times. Dimitrov is good, nice game, but I don't feel he's a great champion. Tomic is the best youngster of his generation by far.

Congrats are in order for the youngster.

How long would it be till we see the thread 'Tomic will be ranked in the top 10 for the first time'? If ever. I'd say 3 years.

Tomic has more potential than Berankis, he has all the tools and all the hype to be big. Still, I rather want to see Harrison or some other kid to have a better career. The punk attitude from Tomic will only work if he backs it up, which he this time, did.

I say right after AO 2013, at the age of 20.

I didn't say Berankis was better overall compared to Tomic, but as of right now, I think he's the best youngster. Down the line, I think he has Nalbandian potential. Tomic needs to improve his movement to be a truly elite player with the style he plays.

Okay, first: Andreev presented one of the years finest chokes after been up 2 sets to 0. Second: Soderling was nowhere to his real game. I'm not against anybody's happy hours but let's check the reality. Fangirls can be high anytime, I understand that.

Tomic's court coverage and anticipation is almost as good as Murray's so he doesn't need great speed. He's a bit too passive in neutral rallies, you feel he could do more with the ball. If he improves as someone would expect given his age I see a future no.1 here. Too early to say though.
