I just watch part of the 1st and 3rd set, I miss the whole 2nd set.
But what I watch, I saw Tomic way superior than Soda, playing pretty decent winners, serving good and with a great grass level for any player.
I think (From what I saw), the better player won.
Congratulations, Bernard, you're in the best 16 players in 2011 Wimbledon Championships.

What a routine Job from the replacer of Nadal as the GOAT! Tomic is going to be big! He's going to be HUGE! QF seems VERY possible! He's not an underdog, for sure! I'm so happy. He's proven what I think for since the first time: OF these new generation is by far the best. Maybe Berankis is not that far, ok, but the other ones are just too behind!

Chris.

06-25-2011, 06:48 PM
Well what a match from Tomic. Yes Soderling didn't look like he was feeling too flash but Bernard didn't do him any favours with the way he played. Fantastic variety and Soderling couldn't come up with an answer.

Like him or not, this kid has got something...

Ben.
06-25-2011, 06:49 PM
That was very impressive from Tomic regardless of how Soderling was feeling. Tomic was very subdued after the win and gave a very calm interview, taking it in his stride it seems. Why does this guy get the hate? Wasting the wild cards or what?

Another exciting tournament from the young guys.

MaxPower

Good on Tomic. He got the opportunity and took it.

Anyway it's probably a blessing in disguise for Robin. His feet has been troubling him and he took a lot of anti-inflammatory medicine for it after the long Hewitt match. Probably a reason that he was feeling so bad today and had stomach pains and a little low on fluids.

He has already withdrawn from Davis Cup so will get a long rest now and hopefully heal up his hurting foot that has been troubling him for many months now

:yeah: - it must be said, Tomic carried himself very classy and mature on court all throughout the match. I think he well understood that his opponent wasn't anywhere near 100% today and in such a situation a restrained celebration after the victory is in order. Great tennis from the young guy, and wow, how impressive he kept his cool all the time. He may have been a kind of punk in the past, today he really showed his class. Only 18 years young - he might indeed become the Next Big Thing in tennis. Congrats! :hatoff:

Robin - so  to see him struggle all during the match. There was obviously something seriously wrong with him, sweating as a pig, dizzy in his head, and wobbly on his feet. Kudos to him for not retiring though.
 get well soon, get a good rest, and be sure to get rid of that foot niggle as well.

Soderling with a concerted, gritty effort to get the break at 3-4 in the third and still Tomic emerged the better player when Swede was producing some of his best stuff.

Colour me impressed, but Malisse will not allow easy passage to the quarters; their fourth round match should be close.

Nothing against Soderling, but this is good for the game. We need young players having big wins in slams and we could do with a top-class Australian to replace Hewitt. During the northern European Challenger, ATP and Grand Slam grass court season that started in Nottingham on May 30th, the Australian has won more matches than any other player. He has won 12, four more than the next best.

In every minute of this match you could see that Soderling is ill/has a problem/ can not move how he wants/ is not at more than 50% of his potential.

As for Tomic: He played solid. Good serve. Nice returns: He read the serve of Soderling really well.

It was not easy to win that match.
But it was not that hard.

A win against Malisse would be still (after this win) an absolute sensation.

Tomic has all the shots, the serve and the variety.
But I can see already a little tendency to play passive and "observant" tennis.

This kinda things I do, I do with just funny content.
Because, as you know, some people here still have sense of humour.
I don't think Tomic is the future GOAT, as I said in my other posts, I don't know if he could win a slam, i'm just joking because he won over a great player.

It piss me off when someone refers to me as a retard, first of all, cause I consider that kinda thing discrimination, and 2nd, because you have no reasons to do it.

And, I surely hate YOUR kind.

The thing about this kid, when he does go for power, he seems to generate it effortlessly in a way reminiscent of Marat Safin (don't laugh). But he's also got the junk-balling down to a fine art. Cross between Safin & Murray? If so, we could be looking at Real Deal stuff here.

Simply. Andreev played tennis in those 2 sets. Then he went ping-pong.

Soderling would have gotten beat by Manarino today. Probably not in 3 straight sets though.

After the first set it was obvious Soderling wasn't fit enough to win the match, after he went down a break in the second it was even more obvious however you have to credit Soderling for just finishing the match. Congrats to Tomic though, played well and I do expect him to win on monday, saw him last week at Roehampton and thought he could do well here and I'm glad I was right.

Wow, not a result I was expecting.

Hope Robin pulls up OK since he didn't look well. Tomic - curious to see if he can get to the QF (most likely against Nole) with his draw, definitely a player I'm going to be watching.

Those who say Tomic is a poor man's Murray - at eighteen Tomic already has a better mentality than Murray.

AHAHAHAHHAHAAHA!!! YES!!! Great result for tennis that this worthless mug is out of the tournament. Him and his sorry ass attitude can GTFO. :D Congrats Tomic!! :)

STFU please :o

Wow, didn't see the match but thought this was gonna be a routine win for Robin. Damn :( much as I don't like Tomic, it's always good for the game when the youngsters break through. Nicely done from the Aussie :hatoff:

Kudos to him for not retiring though.
 get well soon, get a good rest, and be sure to get rid of that foot niggle as well.

ah okay thanks for the update Bonnie :) didn't know Robin was sick during the match, hope he recovers soon!

Great win for Bernard, congrats to him on his Wimbledon, hopefully he can go further now with this opportunity.

Robin, clearly not at 100%. Really unfortunate for him that it happened during Wimbledon. Hope he recovers quickly and bounces back fast.

Tennis is dead
Can I just say that posters like the above are pathetic sad excuses for human beings. How you can hate an 18 year old person you don't even know is ridiculous. I hate people that have done something really bad to me personally, but to hate someone you don't know? It's such a sad, unhealthy, unproductive emotion, that it just seems way over the top.

There's sportsmen who have done questionable things whom I don't have much time for, but I wouldn't waste energy with such a overwhelming emotion as hate.
