Simon had momentum in the second. Without the rain it would have been oh so different.

Great result as always when Simon goes out, good 1 Delpo. Great serving and groundies. Should take a set from Nadal.

Just follow the scoreboard, but it seems like it was a pure mental meltdown by the frenchman (I think i'm using this sentence for the 1324325th time)

Simon is an absolute choker, he's a disgrace.

Could've won every set really.

Yes, solid, not spectacular by any stretch but solid.

It was like Simon had ALL the chances and he gave away each one of them.

It was a close match and Del Potro was more solid and more clutch. We're not discovering today that Pony is the mentally strongest player of the two.

Player with more chances always wins, stupid to say Simon had more

I agree with this.

didnt see this match as it clashed with Rafa Muller. I mean Delpo won in 3 sets against a decent player. So must have been solid. Will catch highlights later.

Del Potro is clutch. Got to work on his return game and raise his serving another notch and he will be hard to beat. Mentally he is as strong as you can get.

The match was less Simon being choker and more Delpo being OH SO FUCKING SOLID mentally strong.
Delpo is in the Top 3 for mental strength.

Simon didn't choke, he played great till 4-2 in 2nd set and then got fucked off by rain

Del Potro on grass is pretty odd. He isn't comfortable on the surface pretty obviously. He is much less aggressive on the forehand....his backhand may actually be the better shot on grass. He won't beat any of the big dogs until he gets much more confident and comfortable on this surface.

Delpo was really clutch in the tiebreaks. Good, solid win.

routine job for Del Potro, no need for him to produce his best tennis, just a better mental than Simon, he played better the key points than Simon

Good performance mentally from Delpo against an opponent that could be/was tricky. It's going to be tough for him against Nadal, but we'll see what happens

you and Mathieu;Gael just stink monkey balls on grass unlike the past French players and the 2006 Wimbledon champion so not surprised:shrug:

Awful awful result for Gilles against a grass mug Delpo doing an awful impersonation of Roddick. When Gilles first broke through, he was so clutch and mentally strong. He's a much better and more complete player than then, but that mental strength is nowhere to be seen.

Tricky matchup for Delpot on grass, he ended up hitting a lot of lowish balls. Handled them very well indeed.

Such a contrast mentally. I dont think del Potro will threaten Nadal unless he serves enormous.

Simon is a pusher. By definition, he gives nothing away.
