Has Lopez just established himself as the 2011 Wimbledon darkhorse?

He's always had a beautiful game to watch. All his shots look fantastic and executed to perfection. The question with Feli has never been his timeless talent it has been his mental strength. So far mentally he has been outstanding. Never gets down when missing, always calm and collected. He has the look in his eyes. Right now everything is clicking. He is full of confidence and just isn't missing. He just played Roddick off the park and isn't nearly finished.

I'm thinking semi-finals at the minimum and perhaps even the final. Normally the AO has the hot/form players (tsonga/Gonzo/verdsaco) but this time it's wimbledon.

I think he can go further after wimby anyway. Posibly tear up the US hard court season. He has shined there before. top 10 at the end of the year is not without the question. Or even WTF.

Right now though he looks in great shape. How far can he go?

No. Roddick just established himself as the 2011 Wimbledon retard, losing to his pigeon on grass.

The guy is here for about half-hour and already nailing the forum.

Beating Roddick these days doesn't say much. He seems to be happy just getting the ball over the net during rallies. Any half decent player would feast on Roddick playing like that. A top5 player would have routined him 6-3. 6-2 or so

Good form, great win today, but Roddick made him look good. Always very easy to ace Duck, Murray will get everything back.

I think it was kinda expected...
Roddick isn't playing pretty well and Feli's style of play is so Wimbledon.

It wasn't beating Roddick. It was the way he beat him. I can just picture Murray losing in agony again. Lopez has the tool and confidence to do the job.

No, he's just a world class player in this surface, and also Roddick is done. I was hopping he will reach QF anyway. Murray, will be a hard task, IMO. But still a possible one.

Because against Nadal he will bend over.

Murray will have probably an harder task to deal with before that potential QF.

No because more than likely he'll lose in the next round. Roddick just made him look better than he is.

I think it's a 50-50. The level of difficulty, between Gasquet ans Feli is about the same. I would love to see a Gasquet vs. Feli QF, btw.

I don't think so.
Gasquet is looking scarely good at the moment.

I think he has a chance to read QFs if he keeps it up. Could take out Muzz, but it's not looking likely.

Judging by their recent form and their previous encounters, you have some nerves to say something like that.
All their matches have been on Gasquet's racquet and this one probably won't be different.

Dark horse for the title? No. But he can push all opponents to the limit, I think.

Roddick isn't really the benchmark anymore these days, though. Not even on grass. He is not playing like a Top 30 player.

Lopez will have a great year and end in the top 20.

No, I don't think he will beat Gasquet/Murray. And he could definitely lose to Kubot/Monfils as well. He's not consistent enough from match to match, he doesn't play as well outside of big stages, and guys who can block the serve back and get into rallies and hit passing shots effectively will beat Feli.

The way he's been playing in Wimby so far he can get through the next round but i don't think he can beat Murray.

For me the current dark horse, maybe not for the title but for possible upsets is Berdych. The way he's been playing + the experience from reaching the final last year, he's definitely a big threat.
Nadal/Berdych QF could be interesting, more then the final of last year was that's for sure.

There is absolutely no chance Lopez will make the final of Wimbledon. Beating Murray and Nadal back to back just isn't possible for him. He had Federer by the gonads in the final set in Madrid and missed a very easy smash at 5-2 in the final set tiebreak. That typifies the guy. He lacks the required self-belief. If he did achieve the unlikely event of beating Murray, there is zero chance of him repeating it against Nadal. Absolutely zero. It would require serving like a god. And nobody, and I repeat nobody, can sustain the level of serving required over 5 sets to beat a player as good as Nadal when the rest of your game is far below the level of the oppossing player. When was the last time a big server with limited ground game beat Nadal over 5 sets? Kendrick came close at Wimbledon chipping and charging and serving and volleying every point, but still lost over 5. It just isn't going to happen.

I think Berdych has a very slim chance of beating Nadal in the QF, should they both make it that far. I think Nadal has something like 9 straight wins against Berdych, and Nadal really dislikes him as well. For Berdych to have any chance, he will have to serve very big. It's possible, as Berdych has a big serve. But can he sustain it? I don't think so. I give him a 5% chance. I expect Nadal in 4 at the very least, unless their is a physical issue for Rafa.

The only guys I can see stopping Nadal are Federer or Djokovic. Nobody else can beat him. In fact I will go as far to say whoever wins the Federer Djokovic semifinal will win Wimbledon this year.

Birdshit will beat Nadal and will bend over to Federer in the final.

I think there is less than 1% chance of that happenning! Quartych beating Nadal would be monumental and highly unlikely (5% chance). And Berdych, should he do the unimaginable, in my opinion, would be so fired up, I'd give him a fairly good shot at taking the title. He's beaten Federer before at Wimbledon (as well as Djokovic) and taken them both close on numerous occasions, on other surfaces, and he has the serve to do some serous damage on grass. I'm therefore fairly certain he wouldn't just bend over to those guys. But of course this is just hypothetical, as Berdych will never make another Wimbledon final.

He has Monfils next which is a winnable match. His QF will be harder, but I think he can pull it off regardless of whether it's Murray or Gasquet. After all, he had a +50 Winner to UE differential.
