Big credit to Mucho for this win. Served huge, returned better than many would have expected, was solid and consistent throughout and controlled all rallies. Isner fought hard the final game, which was his best return game in the match, but overall, he didn't return well enough, wasn't aggressive enough and he got suckered into playing Almagro's game. Good win for the Spaniard, clutch at the end saving two 0-30's on serve at the end of the match.

Last set was 6-3. It's not the first time that you're writing the scoreline wrong.

Good riddance.
Isner makes Roddick look like Santoro.

Can't believe Almugro lost in the first round of Roland Garros, but does well here.

Isner + fast court = might as well sit on his chair for the return games.

whats most impressive(depending on how you look at it) is that isner did not have 1 break point the entire matchg

now thats either shows how good almagro was..or how pathetic isner is

Any day that Almagro wins a match is a bad day for tennis.

After the 3rd set i thought this will be more epic than last year's Isner vs Mahut
Sadly it didn't happen

He served great, 20 something aces and a ton more unreturnable. His strokes arent penetrating enough on grass so someone will take advantage of that.

Sad for Isner, but Almagro's serve was just way too solid today.

I don't who why expect everybody Isner's win. I saw the odds too. :awww: Isner is bad returner especially for Almagro's serve what was awesome today. :worship: He seemed rested mentally too. :D

Well done Nico. :yeah:

Does pretty much the same anytime he plays on a fast court.

That's because he has a terrible game if you take away his serve.

spaniards showing the haters that they are all court players now.

court 18 has some slick grass that should help guy like isner.

nadal is giving these spanish guys belief.

rafa showing once again, he is the one responsible for giving these spaniards belief that they can play on all surfaces.

spaniards now do well on fast hardcourts and grass.

all due to king rafa.

rafa should take all the credit for almugro's win.

:haha:

not many americans can return well, only agassi is a great returner.

the rest of them including sampras are all serve mugs that needs tiebreaks to win tennis mathces.

Never heard of Jimmy Connors, eh?

Isner being a crap returner on grass has little to do with him being American, and a lot to do with him being a giant with poor movement that can't get down to hit the ball off of the low grass bounce. Not that he's a good returner on other surfaces, but he does at least get some breaks. Almagro shouldn't be shutting anybody out in the BP department.

This is such nonsense. Almagro is mentally so tough the last years.

Good to see the long nerd lose, good for tennis. He isn't a good grass court player after all.

spaniards are now fast court specialists.

verdasco, ferrer, almugro, lopez all do well on the fast courts.

only rafa is still a mug on hardcourts. losing final after final, yes he is making finals, but he is good enough to win hard court titles on a consistent basis.
