Wimbledon R2: [12] Tsonga def. Dimitrov 6-7(4) 6-4 6-4 7-6(8)

An ultra entertaining match as expected. Great shotmaking by both. Dimitrov has a very flashy game and walks with a swagger, but he's got some pretty major holes as well, and he struggled after each rain delay. Tsonga served huge, moved well, was generally consistent, and hit some big forehands. Both hit some great volleys and overall it was a nice match to watch, as it had variety, power and finesse.

Both hit some amazing passing shots, including Tsonga hitting one off a Dimitrov smash that lead to the break for *4-3 in the fourth, and Dimitrov hitting several, especially back to back ones down *4-5 in the fourth.

The main difference in this match was the serve of Tsonga, and the experience factor. Good win for Jo Willy, got very tight at the end and lost his first serve rhythm, double faulted twice and was broken serving for the match at *5-4. The tiebreak was amazing from both players, points were won with both hitting winners, not errors, except for the next to last point where Dimi had a brain cramp. Dimitrov has a ton of confidence and that will do him a lot of favors in the future.

Now plays Gonzalez in R3, which should be another entertaining encounter.

So close...

Dimitrov has top 10 talent. When he puts it all together and learns how to really play tennis rather than play with instinct, he's going to be a really good player.

Expected. Tsonga is insanely good on grass. We're in for a pretty exciting match up with Gonzo and Tsonga!

Better player lost . Tsonga has the serve and he is a match match, Dimitrov has everything but he isn't a match player . So many chances for Dimitrov , he should have won it comfortably . Not just he got tight on big points, his shot selection was kindly said horrible, he didn't know what he wants to do in these kind of situations. He reminds me a lot on Gasquet, just his forte is FH and bad wing is BH and in my opinion it's much easier to build a big game on the FH side than on BH, and this is where I see that Dimitrov could actually do something big. I usually don't feel sorry for the outcome of the match which I started to watch as neutral spectator but this match was exception . I am really hoping that somebody will do something with Grigor's head . It would be really shame if such talent will be wasted

Amazing match, could have gone either ways, just a microne difference between the two, comming from Tsonga's experience mainly.

Grigor has grown enormously in the return department as well as the head department.

To save 5 MPs, many on Tsonga's serve - not easy even for much more proven players. Also comming back from 3-5, being on a 0-5 streak to go up to 6-5 and 2 SPs...just wow!
