WWW Wimbledon R2: Soderling vs. Hewitt

Could be a good match! I didn't watch Robin's match, not sure how well he's playing. Lleyton's desire is definitely there.

Hard one, I want Lleyton to go on a nice run here, but I always like to see Soderling do well.

I wonder how the Nadaltards rate Söderling's draw as they already consider their hero's draw as the toughest ever :rolleyes:

Hmmm I'm actually more confident in Robin for this one than I was for Petzschner. Hewitt's game doesn't suit him that well but now Soderling is getting into the tournament and hopefully not much wind or other distractions when they play. I say he wins in 3/4 sets but at least 2 of them very close

Don't have a clue how Lleyton will pull up after today. Heart and guts can't carry you on one leg, but if Lleyton pulls up well and can move at close to 100% then he'll fancy his chances.

I'll take Hewitt in 4. He is smart and talented enough to watch how Petzschner played and really emulate the style.

I think Lleyton is going to take this, in 4 sets. I wasn't impressed with Robin and the court speed plus his injury will definitely have a major impact in this match.

If it's windy then Hewitt in 4. Otherwise Soderling in 3 or 4.

Read that Hewitt signed up for doubles as well. Strange decision if he had foot problems. Must either mean that he is feeling better than expected or that he somewhat expects to lose early

Think they made that decision in Halle. I assume he's going to play doubles instead of hitting the practice courts, much like McEnroe used to do. If he's still in the tournament that is.

really hoping lleyton can find a way to win this

he needs this so much more than robin does and its always good to see him doing well

Would love to see Hewitt go on a big run here, he is after all a former champion and to see him out in the second round would be pretty sad.

Actually both these players' draws in Grand Slams are enough for a regurgitation. Judging by the pair's two very tight meetings at Cincinnati the last two years, this match should be very close. However injury issues make me wary of picking someone.

C'MON Lleyton!!! Hope he makes a nice run here as he is a former Wimbledon champion, and he is defending a 4th round loss to Djokovic here from Wimbledon last year.

I think Lleyton still has the biggest balls and heart in the ATP Tour.
His body isn't the same, but his heart is so big.
Also he's still talented, I think he could beat Robin.

Surely Robin will have too much game for this old man...

If there are normal conditions, Robin takes it with possibly a lost set. If there's wind like yesterday it might be tight but he's still favorite. If I recall it was quite windy in Cinci when they met, Robin still won but that was on hardcourt and hardfought.

Should be a good match, if Hewitt makes it uncomfortable for Soderling early I think he can take it, but he definitely can't let Robin get off to a good start.

I think that Lleyton has a decent chance of winning this match. It's grass, and Lleyton leads the H-2-H 3-1. His only loss came when he was one point away from serving for the match. I will say Lleyton in 4.

The forecast is for heavy rain at 1o'clock, so the roof will almost certainly be closed. Good news for Robin.

I would love to see Hewitt win this. I have nothing against Soderling at all, and like him as a player too, but I would look forward too a Hewitt-Tomic all Aussie match in R3. Would be good for Aussie tennis as they need it.

Neither is 100% well, so guts may make the difference. If Hewitt's ROS still is decent he can take this, haven't seen him play for a while though.
