Great win for Nando. This is the type of victory that can jump start his season. Really dug down deep when he was playing atrocious tennis the first two sets. Played a great game to finish the forth set tiebreaker and a great return game to finish the match off.

sets 3-5 were really well played, nando showing some balls for the first time in ages

1 mp saved at *6-5 in the 4th set tiebreak I believe.

Good to see fiasco didn't give up after the first 2 sets.

Great match :worship: First 2 sets were awful from Verdasco though. The way he saved the match point in the 4th set TB as well. :worship:

Final set was 9-7.

Poor result for Radek, was in control of this match but Verdasco fought well and saved a gazillion break points.

Good fightback for Nando...Stepanek had so many opportunities in the fourth and fifth sets though

Awesome win for Nando. Coming back from 2 sets down and winning 9-7 in the fifth could be the big confidence boost he needs to hit the top 10 form he showed last season.

Steps had more than enough chances to get this done, but Verdasco took his chances.

Verdascos at it again.

4th set was (misleadingly by score) nowhere near as big a choke as 5th (Verdasco played well on MP, even if Steps was pretty stupid)

Bad result for the game. Wimbledon has lost its sexiness for this year.

Wow, surprising. Was Step 4-1 in the 3rd set TB?

Only saw the 4th and 5th set, but I feel a bit sorry for Stepanek. He was just unlucky for Verdasco coming out of nowhere, winning three amazing points and turn the match around when down matchpoint. Still Verdasco was the better player in the last set, even though he did nothing special until the last return game where he played well. Stepanek had his chance at 3-3 when he had 15-40 and therefore two breakpoints only to dump two forehands in a row into the net.

Nando also had a chance to win final set 6-3. He was up 4-3 with 0-30 :p.

Great contest! :D Nando's come back in 3 out of the last 4 slams from 2 sets down. For all his mental flaws we need no more proof that he won't give up. :D

Nando's game was absolutely horrendous the first two sets. He played like he just step foot on a grass court for the first time. No footwork, no timing on the shots, return was non-existent. His serve wasn't working, his backhand was awful. He just dug really deep.

Radek played a smart match, targeted Nando's BH a lot, made him keep going for the passing shots, and served pretty well. Nando just started finding his game more than anything Radek did and didn't do. Radek's FH also hurt him quite a bit when it really mattered. Ultimately, the better player won the match.

Yeah, good point, but 15-40 is still a somewhat bigger chance in my opinion, especially because Stepanek had managed to put the ball into play both times :p

What a great comeback, I was so surprised Verdasco was able to finish off the 5th too but he hit some brilliant passing shots... Some great groundies too to fool Stepanek on his own service games. Haase looks beatable for him

His match was postponed a day, he's in Rafa's half so now he plays again tomorrow.

Poor Stepanek... Reminds me of his DC final loss to Ferrer in 2009 at Spain when he also cruised through first 2 sets but in the end wasn't fit enough to close it out.

oh.. thanks for the reply :)

playing so soon after playing a 4 hours match.. I do not have a good feeling about this. Nando has a fragile mentality, and playing so soon after the Stepanek match.. he'll be physically and mentally drained :(
