JMDP simply hits the ball too hard for little Cipolla. Served big throughout the match and hit some big forehands. Not an amazing performance but pretty good, and was never seriously tested.

8 games was pretty good for flavio.

Bad luck, would have beaten quite a few other players had the draw been different.

Did well simply to qualify the Cip. Del Potro will be a threat to Nadal.

I saw the first set of this on court 18 yesterday and the weight of shot of DP compared to Cipolla is just insane. It's expected given the difference of stature, but more to the point, Cipolla has exceeded himself with his career. To be near the top 100 even if not in the top 100 for so long is more than what a lot of more talented players ever offered.

That looked as easy as the scoreline suggests. I'm surprised Cipolla qualified actually, didn't follow who he beat.

Chipotle played pretty well for himself.

Flavio actually played really well, except for the final games of the third set. His game play was really intelligent. Unfortunately, JMDP just had way too much power, so he stood no chance, but Flavio remains a joy to watch. As a fan, I am extremely proud that Flavio has now played the main draw of all Grand Slams. It shows that hard work and pure feeling for the ball can translate into good results despite obvious physical disadvantages.

Forza Cipo

This result tells us little.

A good bet, flying under the radar.

Let the talking heads put all the attention on Murray and the guys ranked above him.

JMDP will stealthily progress and wreak havoc in the second week and demonstrate to the buggers that the so called big four is a figment of their imagination.

Flavio did play well and he used the slice well, and hit some smart angles. The way he plays seems to be making a comeback into the top 100, guys who are solid, have variety, make others beat themselves. Flavio has talent but the reason his results have been hit and miss in challengers and ATP matches is due to his lack of power and lack of a serve. With that said, his game translates to all but fast courts, so hopefully he can remain around 100 and make the AO in 2012.
