great start to the tournament for tomas
Wimbledon R1 Berdych def. Volandri 6-2, 6-2, 6-1misty1 06-20-2011, 03:50 PM great start to the tournament for tomas TheBaker 06-20-2011, 03:51 PM Pathetic result from Filippo. Had his chance serving at 30-15 to hold serve in the 3rd. Action Jackson 06-20-2011, 03:52 PM Tough one for Berdych. Sunset of Age 06-20-2011, 03:54 PM Of course Volandri is a mug on grass, so no need to draw any conclusions about Berdych's form already. Still good to see Berdych come through so easily, especially as his performance in Halle was rather questionable, as he could have easily lost his first round against Bemelmans over there, and the rest of his matches weren't all too convincing either. Good job Birdy, keep it going. Filo V. 06-20-2011, 03:57 PM Expected result. Pippo has better places to be than this tournament. Turin is next week, it's an 85K, and we all know how Pippo gets up for the Italian challengers. This was just a formality. Onto bigger and better things. Certinfy 06-20-2011, 04:00 PM Berdych looked okay, backhand return was awful though. orangehat 06-20-2011, 04:04 PM :o his draw is basically a bye to the QF unless Fish can do something  Helevorn 06-20-2011, 04:08 PM I'm so happy :) Benneteau next. Ad Wim 06-20-2011, 04:09 PM Why the hell does a guy like Volandri even play here? Pathetic. Globetrotter 06-20-2011, 04:14 PM Solid from Tomas, really. Forehand and backhand are still far from being perfect, he's lacking a bit of artillery and net play, but he's improving. Of course Volandri is one of the easier opponents on grass, but this was better than his matches in Halle, served well and looked okay from the ground. Solid start. Sapeod 06-20-2011, 04:18 PM Pippo has better places to be than this tournament. Turin is next week, it's an 85K, and we all know how Pippo gets up for the Italian challengers. This was just a formality. Onto bigger and better things. :spit: Yeah, onto some challengers :spit: Filo V. 06-20-2011, 04:19 PM Yes, the challengers will be much more interesting than this event likely will be by this time Monday. Don't need to see the same guys over and over again. Sapeod 06-20-2011, 04:21 PM More interesting than Wimbledon? A grand slam? Yeah, right.... Audacity 06-20-2011, 04:21 PM Yes, the challengers will be much more interesting than this event likely will be by this time Monday. Don't need to see the same guys over and over again. More interesting? Possibly... Bigger and better things... no. Filo V. 06-20-2011, 04:31 PM For Pippo, yes, playing a big challenger in Italy>Wimbledon. Better surface for him, he's at home with his people, he has more self-belief, and he can gain more points from winning since he isn't going to go far on grass. This loss was a mere formality for Pippo. On to the next one. TMJordan 06-20-2011, 04:32 PM Volandri getting crushed :yeah: Filo V. 06-20-2011, 04:32 PM I'd rather watch unpredictable clay court matches than seeing the same Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, blah blah blah, making it deep in tournaments. I see them enough. Clay tennis is more interesting than grass tennis as well. Sapeod 06-20-2011, 04:45 PM Grass tennis >>> Clay tennis. _Chaz 06-20-2011, 04:47 PM Grass tennis >>> Clay tennis. +1 Filo V. 06-20-2011, 04:49 PM You're entitled to your opinion, Mr. Life. Sonja1989 06-20-2011, 06:32 PM Good match from Berdych, I was satisfied. :D I hope Pippo's injury isn't serious. LawrenceOfTennis 06-20-2011, 09:35 PM First time this year when I saw Berdych hitting really well and confident. Orka_n 06-20-2011, 09:47 PM Tomas :yeah: jrm 06-20-2011, 10:40 PM Benneteau is a different league Sauletekis 06-20-2011, 10:42 PM I never thought I would say this, but I'm happy that Berdych won a match!:worship: TheBaker 06-20-2011, 10:50 PM First time this year when I saw Berdych hitting really well and confident. Did you watch the Australian Open? Mungo 06-21-2011, 12:07 AM Volandri is in Gimeno Traver's league on grass. Topspindoctor 06-21-2011, 12:14 AM What an upset. Arkulari 06-21-2011, 12:22 AM NID, Pippo has no weapons to hurt Berdych on grass, this was almost like a bye for him, so it's ok. Pirata. 06-21-2011, 12:25 AM Grass tennis >>> Clay tennis. +2 Getta 06-21-2011, 12:34 AM but clay is the best surface on which to learn the game. VolandriFan 06-21-2011, 03:24 AM 5 games. :yeah: Mountaindewslave 06-21-2011, 07:06 AM not good at all from Volandri BUT Nadal might have to watch out for Berdych.... maybe Berdych form finally is coming together this season, has been a mess for the most part though. Berdych looks to have a safe passage to the QF's although i'm guessing we're going to have a repeat of the 2010 final =/  Start da Game 06-21-2011, 07:18 AM this time he made sure that it was nothing more than a breadstick in the 3rd set...... Sombrerero loco 06-21-2011, 08:24 AM too easy for tomas^^ Sonja1989 06-21-2011, 09:25 AM Grass tennis >>> Clay tennis. I disagree. FormerRafaFan 06-21-2011, 09:38 AM not good at all from Volandri BUT Nadal might have to watch out for Berdych.... maybe Berdych form finally is coming together this season, has been a mess for the most part though. Berdych looks to have a safe passage to the QF's although i'm guessing we're going to have a repeat of the 2010 final =/  Ï disagree. I think Berdych will give Rafa a run for his money. I am not looking forward to the QF at all. That's if Rafa can reach the QF. I'm not so sure.. he has a very hard draw :( Certinfy 06-21-2011, 12:08 PM Ï disagree. I think Berdych will give Rafa a run for his money. I am not looking forward to the QF at all. That's if Rafa can reach the QF. I'm not so sure.. he has a very hard draw :(The only chance Berdych has in that match assuming it happens is if he somehow remembers how he played last year's QF and repeats it, and the odds of that are? :o StatRacket 06-21-2011, 01:03 PM Expected result. Pippo has better places to be than this tournament. Turin is next week, it's an 85K, and we all know how Pippo gets up for the Italian challengers. This was just a formality. Onto bigger and better things. If that's the case then why did he play s-Hertogenbosch last week instead of Milan, a clay Italian Challenger? Both were on at the same time yet he chose the grass court event in a foreign country. FlameOn 06-21-2011, 02:52 PM An easy win? Well done Tomas. :yeah: | |
