He usually asks for a late start on Tuesday, or even Wednesday. I don't see the RG final getting postponed that far.
The only risk of him not showing up over there is if he actually manages to WIN RG. A small chance, but he's done it before - and didn't show up at Halle thereafter because of too much partying. :p

If Federer plays then it`s really tough for Hewitt.Playing first match for a long period of time,he surely needed a good draw to get a few matches under his belt and get used to it.Now he just has to hope that Federer doesn`t play or doesn`t put much into this event.
What sucks though for Hewitt is that with his typical luck this could easily be a R1 match at Wimbledon.Wouldn`t surprise me a bit if he has to play Federer,Nadal or Djokovic in first round

I don`t think he is obliged to play Halle.I think it has to do with the fact that he either plays this tournament before Wimbledon or he doesn`t play any at all.
If he plays tough matches at the end of RG it`s tough to expect him to give it a go next week.

Yes, indeed he did sign such a contract last year and actually the tournament director thinks he'll be there playing through 2015 when he's just shy of 34-years-old. It's not such a big deal really, whether he wins or loses in tomorrow's FO F he won't be playing until either Tuesday night or most likely some time on Wednesday and then since he'll likely win this event next Sunday (June 12th), he'll then have a week off competitively to prepare for Wimbledon.

He had Nalby and Gonzo at AO 1Rs, had Roger in 3-4 rounds about 3 times for last 3 years being seeded, Rafa in 3rd round at RG'09. So about 6 funny draws of his last 10 GS played.
That one's not too significant and Roger may probably not play but it still fits the picture.

Yeah he has some of the worst luck I've ever seen with the draw. And regarding Rafa at RG, he drew him in later rounds in 2 years as well, pretty unlucky

it's RG's responsibility to finish on time, Federer should not be forced to pull out of here because he's still playing in RG

that being said they can still make it work with Federer's first round on Wednesday, that means they have 3 days to get the RG final in, they should be able to do so

First I thought it had already happen to Roger and Jarkko once after having met in the final of Basel that they had to play in the 1st round the year after. But I checked and saw it was actually a 2nd round meeting so it doesn't count.

Last year Söderling and Berdych withdrew from Halle after going deep in Paris. Roger wouldn't have missed Halle in 2009 if there would be a week between RG and the start to the grass tournaments. (I can't really refer to grass as a season with the few tournaments they play ;) )


We have to wait and see how the RG final will go on. Even if it would get finished today I expect Roger not to play in Halle before Wednesday.

He and Lleyton respect each other a lot and therefore I think he would like to play against his old rival and "take revenge" for the loss in the final last year. There's also the chance for a match against Haas in the 2nd round then which might be the last time that Roger and Tommy could actually meet on the ATP tour.
