Weather forecast Paris for the rest of the week

According to this German website most probably it will rain (yeah actually it'll be thundering) on final Sunday, percentage of rain is 96 atm.
Wouldn't it be kind of a joke if it didn't rain the whole two weeks and then the final can't be played because of the thunderstorm. And btw they also say rain is very possible on Monday, too.

Yeah, I don't know if this is worth a thread, but I think it's a nice information to post here.

of course I will believe in "my boy's" chances. Why wouldn't I? Does that make you upset or something? Why would I need to be prepared? I've been following Djokovic for a long time. He lost many matches. If he wins it's great if not, life goes on. Call me a tard if that makes you feel better. I'm not sure what I should be calling you. Any suggestions?

If heavy rain is in the forecast, that is a huge advantage to Djokovic/Federer. Nadal loves the conditions when the ball bounces real high.

BTW, Rafa told the Spanish press yesterday that he is a bit peeved that few fans notice that, whatever happens now, this is his 6th SF in 7 RG he's entered. If you think he's simply preparing himself for a possible failure, I'd remind you that he has also said, many times, that the record that he respects the most is Fed's 20 something slam SF, which he considers more relevant than any other except perhaps the total nr of slams and that, for him, clinches Fed's place as the best ever.

Now there are a lot more Serbian flags, that's for sure. But that doesn't mean they are all Serbian, many Nole fans (and other player's haters) sport Serbian colours just to show their support. If you go by the flag, you'll make many mistakes about poster's nationalities.

It is an advantage for Djoker I agree as he is at the moment the most consistent from the baseline. It is not an advantage for Fed though. The lower bounce will protect his backhand and make his slice and droppers more effective, BUT Fed hates damp conditions because he can't hit offensively through the court. 2010 Roland Garros QF and 2008 final were both after rain, I believe.

:spit: - well one would think that if the weather forecast is indeed so nasty as people are saying over here (we'll of course have to wait and see whether these predictions indeed come true...), the organizers would take their measures and have the gents on court just a bit earlier than planned originally.

Till Thursday:

if this happens then the match cannot be played at the Philippe Chatrier court, the only other place it could be hosted (IMO) would be the Bercy indoor arena, lay down some clay real quick.

Do you think it will happen? where else can it be played?

No clue where else they'd do it, but I'm sure they'll be diligently looking for the tiniest openings to squeeze in some play...will probably be annoying for everyone but I'm sure they'd rather do that over find a different location.

There's this little thing called Halle which starts Monday which Federer is still scheduled to play in so unless he withdraws from that they likely can't finish Wednesday or later.

If they can't play it is there any chance that they split the points and prize money like they've done before in WTA events I think or because it's a GS and the ATP/WTA doesn't have sanction they have to finish?

I blame the French for this and I'll tell you why. Had they had a roof built onto Chatrier and maybe Lenglein too, then the rain is a complete non-factor, now if it doesn't get finished until Monday or Tuesday or even Wednesday, you're really going to kill the ratings because lots of people will be working and be unable to view it. This could affect Rogie and Rafa playing in Halle and Queen's Club respectively.

Even though the USO doesn't have one (and has no plans to have one) and even the new Yankee stadium doesn't have one and the first ever game scheduled to be played there was rained out. The U.S. is way more old fashioned than the stodgy Brits and French.

RG was supposed to have a roof by this year (http://www.cbssports.com/tennis/story/11742663), but then as the contract for holding the French Open at RG came to its expiry date, there was talk of moving the French Open out of Paris. Obviously this halted any plans to put in the roof. So now that they've decided to stay in this location (http://sports.yahoo.com/tennis/news?slug=ap-frenchopen-rolandgarros), they've set a new target of 2016.

I think RG will have a roof before USO does. ;)

LOL at the U.S. posters dissing RG for not having a roof. So I guess they're not traditionalists after all. If a roof was being considered for a while, then lights should have been added at some point. Several important matches were murdered this year. If tradition is your thang, then no lights and no roof. It all seems a bit aimless.

don't you think that this is actually a HUGE advantage for rafa? All the momentum fed has would have faded, and nadal will prevail no doubt if this match is delayed

that may be.. but i was thinking back at how rafa's big moment, the completion of his career slam at the uso last year, was actually lost in the programming shuffle as the final was actually completed and televised on monday in front of a much reduced tv viewership..

though it was gratifying to no end to have watched him finally clinch the uso trophy, it almost felt like a totally anticlimactic end to such a professional milestone in his career since the usual sunday slot was a no go..

anyway, i hate to think that the historic moment when rafa ties borg's french open record (knock on wood) could also suffer a similar scheduling fate.. though i suppose that as long as rafa wins this thing, i ultimately don't care how it goes down..

check on weather.com. I think rain tapers away beginning 3-4 pm and should be ok until night. I think the match gets completed tomorrow itself.

Hardly confirmed. Weather forecasts are never a done deal.

Might be nice to see the tournament think ahead and do a thing like put the men's final after the women's final on Saturday. There's far too many things to balance though, i.e. rest time, a men's doubles final, the ticket situation, TV, etc. You would need a perfect storm to pull it off without complaints.

Because they knew what threads on GM it would have caused if the players wouldn't have got one day rest after the SF ;)

Apparently there was already rain announced for Monday/Tuesday or Tuesday/Wednesday this week and then it didn't rain at all.

We have to wait and see what happens. As long as a tournament doesn't have a roof weather will always have an impact to an outdoor event.

Make them play in the rain! Have em throw on some helmets and knee/elbow pads for all the slipping they'll be doing.

It probably won't take Nadal more than 2 hours max to put Federer away anyway, and that includes 45 minutes of assgrabbing and 15 minutes of fistpumping.

Center courts with retractable roofs should be mandatory for GS events.

No it's not raining right now (12.05pm Paris time). You can tell because there's play in progress at Roland Garros. Best way to check is the RG link which gives you "matches in progress":

yes, it doesn't look as if it will rain any moment. i'm sure the final will start at the right time, question is how much time do they have to finish...

im sure theyve timed it so the rain comes just in time to ruin the match. no need to start earlier, when you can just do stuff willy-nilly and hope for the best. after all, the semis worked out perfectly, a true testament to their planning genius.

Watching federer play nadal is always funny because you see federer mistime smashes..miss sitter shots all because of the pressure nadal puts on federer...he cannot seem to finish points against nadal..makes wrong decisions..LOL

He fought almost till the end though...so nice try. Once nadal hits top gear on clay, federer has no chance..like nadal played great from 5-2 down and federer could not do anything to stop him.

Federer couldnt pull out enough aces today especially in the ad court going out wide...he must aced poor djoko a bunch of times on that side.

Federer also did not return well enough..he gave rafa way too many free points and did not put him under enough pressure.

He also tried to check out of many fh-bh rallies with some ridiculous attempts.

Nadal was just better. Too good. This match was really closer than it needed to be. Rafa could have killed fed in three.

 Any updates on the weather situation? What is the status of this match? When will it be played? Have they found a suitable indoor location?

Or are they going to wait until August when hopefully Paris has dried out from the several meters of rain that fell today?
