Federer can learn a lot from Rafa's volleying

(Notice how Federer stands upright to volley? Watching it today during the WAW match. It's a low percentage technique, he misses easy volleys due to a lack of technical skill. Has he always refused to get down low on volleys or is it a recent tendency? He needs to watch Rafa)

Hopefully you only kidding. Federer is the only guy right now who has volleys which are similar to real volleyers art. And useful too.

federer used to play s&v quite often before they slowed down courts of all surfaces. he actually had to transition from playing s&v to playing more from the baseline for his wimbledon wins. he is one of the best volleyers on tour, if not the best. nadal has improved his volleying over the years, and if anything he probably learned a great deal from federer. yes he stands upright to volley sometimes but that's probably just him being lazy. and he mainly only misses easy ones when he cracks mentally while playing nadal, djokovic, etc. watch the highlights of his match against nadal in masters cup SF 2007, terrific display of federer's amazing volley skills. yes he is sometimes sloppy, but he has the most natural talent in that department currently

Olderer's volleys are overrated. They are only average quality. Like McEnroe said, Nadal already surpassed him in that department.

(I wouldn't want Federer teaching my futuristic son how to volley, that is for sure. I also wouldn't want Federer teaching my futuristic son to play trick-shots by choice during rallies; that awful thing he does, not moving his feet so he can play a stand-still between the legs shot mid-rally.....)

Nadal can also teach Federer a thing or two about on-court self gratifying fingerbanging.

Nadal always insults Davydenko or Melczar etc. When lost, make an excuse. " I'm injury. I'm sick. I'm tired." again. again. again.

always exaggerated appeal. always overaction to mad. always shouted . always fake of time out. always stupid take time. cheaters in the game. Illegal coaching, fake time-outs, exceding time limit between serves, spitting in the clay. etc. etc. etc.

most annoying player

I would rather hang myself than believing in this kind of lol thing! :haha: If Federer needs to learn from Rafa how to perform a good volley, this will be the end of beautiful tennis.

I didn't disrespect Rafa. He is one of the great players. But I don't think Federer needs to learn anything from him. :)

Nadal has improved significantly, but still not as good as Federer.

Nadal usually goes to the net less often than Federer and usually when more in control of point.

that was like 10 years ago, though.

in all fairness, federer's volleys have greatly decreased throughout the years. in point of fact, i'd say his volleys is the aspect of his game which has been tarnished the most with the passing years.

nowadays federer's volleys are merely decent for the standards of our era. nothing spectacular or positively comparable to the proficient volleyers of the nineties or even the few volleyers of our time
