Olympics 2012 Tickets?

05-24-2011, 04:58 PM
Has anyone who applied for Tennis tickets for next year's Olympics had money taken from their account yet?

Supposedly not everyone will know for sure until the end of June, but seeing there has been no movement in my bank account I am seriously depressed worrying that I have missed out!

I applied for 6 different sessions, at a cost of over 700 pounds. I would have applied for a ton more but I stupidly thought tennis would be undersubscribed. Now it seems I wont get ANY!!!

Anyone got any news?

05-24-2011, 04:59 PM
I applied for the final, so far no news.

05-24-2011, 06:53 PM
I applied for day one and day two. No news yet  I too thought it would be under subscribed - can't think why now.

05-24-2011, 07:13 PM
i probly wouldnt spend over 200 pounds to watch a tennis match, even if it is a final.

05-24-2011, 07:17 PM
I applied for synchronized swimming and am still waiting:

05-24-2011, 08:16 PM
I've applied too - but so far no news.

05-25-2011, 12:49 AM
I applied for three different sessions but they haven't debited my account. I was hoping that it wouldn't be very oversubscribed; maybe I was naive.

05-25-2011, 04:33 PM
Christ, not looking good for us then.

Or maybe they are taking the money out of accounts in alphabetical order regarding the sports themselves.....Tennis would be quite far down the list.

Clutching at straws here...

05-25-2011, 04:38 PM
It's Ebay time this time next year for me

05-25-2011, 04:52 PM
I did an another email from them though.. I'm guessing everyone got that.

It's very bizarre, they should tell us what we are getting and when and THEN charge us. Ridiculous system.

05-27-2011, 11:00 PM
There's a transaction pending in my Visa account, by the amount I think it must be ...... two tickets for the mens singles final !?!

05-27-2011, 11:53 PM
I've applied for many tickets to different sports including 4 tennis sessions... I have some debit pending in my account that looks very much like the olympics, but it's a very small amount of money so it looks like i missed out on almost everything :(

I thought that a ground pass on a weekday would be a slam dunk, but apparently not so much...

05-30-2011, 08:45 PM
I've been debited for £272 which means I got 2 tickets for tennis Sunday, Apr 5th, Court 1 (Men's 3rd place match, Women's Doubles 3rd place match) and 2 tickets for Football Semifinal at Wembley for April 7th.

I was hoping for the Centre Court tickets for Sunday... :( oh well...

05-30-2011, 08:57 PM
I applied for about 6 sessions, nothing yet... supposedly 60% of applications have been charged, I guess they might do tennis ones at the same time so probably didn't get anything .. and tennis allegedly sold out because it wasn't listed among ones who are going on sale for a second time.

05-31-2011, 04:39 AM
My account still hasn't been debited. I don't think they have finished charging everyone yet but my hopes aren't high

05-31-2011, 07:25 AM
I think I got a ground pass, I applied for a few days.

05-31-2011, 08:26 AM
Oh dear - seems as if I was allocated diddly squat. Anyone know if it will still be possible to acquire tickets?

05-31-2011, 09:52 AM
I applied for a few ground passes and Centre Court on one of the early days and have heard nothing. My dad applied for football in Coventry and got them all. My sister applied for hockey and something horsey and only got one hockey match.

I like the system because it keeps tickets cheap... for those that can get them. But it must have encouraged everyone to overpurchase leaving tonnes of people ticketless while others probably have too many.

05-31-2011, 09:53 AM
What I read is that "almost all" tennis sessions were sold out. So a very few tickets will become available soon to people who were unsuccessful in the first round.

And at some point locog will set up an exchange where people can sold unwanted tickets... there will be millions chasing the few valuable tickets that are released this way, but it's a possibility.

05-31-2011, 11:04 AM
Still no news for me  I should have applied for more! Also, I've had no news if i've got a place volunteering at wimbledon for the weeks. I wish they could just say 'unsuccessful' or 'successful' instead of making us wait.

05-31-2011, 01:11 PM
No news for me either. Apparently today is the last day they'll be taking money, so there's time, but I think my chances are slim. Still, I'll be checking my account late this evening, just in case! ;)

Just for the record, apparently only 1 in 7 applications were totally unsuccessful (i.e got NO tickets) but it seems like there's a few of us here who could be included in that "1"

05-31-2011, 01:13 PM
Nothing here :(

Very disappointed, but oh well.

05-31-2011, 01:17 PM
It's a bit selfish but I wish they'd done a first-come first-served sort of thing because for that fans can have some extent of control over increasing our chances to get tickets, but no  I guess they're trying to broaden outreach or something annoying like that by making it a lottery...

05-31-2011, 01:17 PM
Btw, next year we have a "Second chance" to purchase tickets, and it'll be a more traditonal style, first-come-first-served thing, though of course, many of the desirable tickets will have gone; however, I'm guessing lots of people applied for LOADS of tickets and are now stuck with tickets they don't want, so there might be some gems available.

05-31-2011, 01:45 PM
I applied for several, and I believe I got precisely none. I am not happy.

05-31-2011, 01:54 PM
looks like i'm going to have to get a move on if i want any ticket to this thing!!! and i applied for exchange just to go over there to watch some olympic tennis...ARGH

*edit* damn it's already closed!!!! =0

For those still waiting on tickets, you might receive information in the next few days, since the website said they'll be taking payments over the next few days.

06-01-2011, 06:55 AM
Nothing for me when I checked this morning :(

06-01-2011, 07:52 AM
I applied for 10 tickets (6*tennis, 4* volleyball and basketball) and nothing's happened so far. I'm a bit worried but I think I read somewhere that there was an issue with some visa cards and that they would contact you by 10 June if that's the case. So not all hope lost yet?!

06-03-2011, 07:52 AM
I applied for 1 ticket for mens gold medal match and opening/closing ceremonies. I got absolutely nothing. Gutted :(

06-03-2011, 08:14 AM
I applied for 1 ticket for mens gold medal match and opening/closing ceremonies. I got absolutely nothing. Gutted :(

Those are the absolute hardest events in the games. Not to sound harsh but it was completely expected you wouldn't get them.

I applied for 700 quid worth of tickets for less desirable rounds/days/times/sports, and was deducted 111 quid (105 for tickets + 6 postage). Oh well.

My feeling is I might have sneaked a tennis ground pass (20 quid) + either basketball QF or hokey final (85 quid). It is ridiculous that they take your money but don't tell you what tickets you've got for several weeks

06-03-2011, 08:31 AM
I applied for groundpasses for the first 5 days, got nothing :(
However a client who isn't interested in tennis and only applied for Centre Court tickets for Day 1 as an afterthought got his tickets. He's offered me first refusal if he decides not to go. Nice gesture but if anything it's made me more angry!

06-10-2011, 09:14 PM
There was another round of madness today - the 10k people whose cards were declined had their tickets reallocated and the money was taken from accounts today. Anyone get anything?

06-11-2011, 08:44 AM
Just checked. Nothing!

06-17-2011, 05:23 PM
Everyone who was unsuccessful got an invite to apply for remaining tickets in the 1st come 1st served allocation on the 24th - but the tennis is completely sold out :(

06-17-2011, 05:54 PM
Yep - I definitely got bugger all. Bugger all for any of my tickets, actually, across 6 sports and 15 different sessions.

Ticketing process has been a farce, they've made no attempt to make sure as many people as possible get SOME of their requests, so 1.2 million out of 1.9 million people got absolutely nothing.

06-17-2011, 06:38 PM
On Breakfast last week Bill Turnbull (I love Bill) read out my question to Seb Coe first, but he wriggled out of answering it like the tory slimeball he is. I asked why the ballot hadn't been weighted so everyone had a better chance of getting their 1st choice event than their 20th choice but all he did was ramble on about a ballot being the fairest way... blah blah blah. Couldn't organise an orgy in a brothel, well I hope some corporate "guest" inhales the complimentary champers they've bought with my few hundred quid of income tax that every tax payer in the UK has put towards the games! I think if I lived in London and was paying all that extra council tax too I'd be even more raging I hadn't got a ticket! :o

06-18-2011, 08:23 AM
I live in London and I got zero tickets. I am fuming!

I have gone from being disappointed to really angry. The ticketing ballot has been an utter farce. Some people got thousands of pounds worth of tickets, while the majority get nothing! I wonder how many real fans will be at the tennis, and how many will be Tory supporting "special guests".

was that an email I didn't get that

Yes, everyone eligible for this next round were meant to get an email yesterday http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13812626 so maybe you got a ticket for something Tori?

06-18-2011, 01:59 PM
I didn't get any. Still wating to hear if I got the job volunteering at Wimbledon as a 'gamesmaker', did anyone else apply to volunteer?

06-18-2011, 02:02 PM
Bet you're just champing at the bit to get those greco roman wrestling tickets Judio! :p
The only tickets left are for sports I wouldn't bother reaching for the remote for, never mind sit on a train for 9 hours and pay over the odds for accomodation for so they can ram it!

06-18-2011, 02:22 PM

nope I got an email to say I didn't get a ticket but nothing about getting a second chance.

I only wanted tennis tickets and it's sold out so it's the dodgy ticket touts for me.

06-18-2011, 02:26 PM
I only wanted tennis tickets too - here's the email I got

Your Olympic Games ticket application.

We would like to thank you for applying for London 2012 Olympic Games tickets.

Due to the overwhelming demand for tickets, we are sorry that you have not been allocated the tickets you requested. We can confirm that we have not taken any payment from you.

Demand for tickets greatly exceeded supply in the sessions and price categories you applied for. Where sessions were oversubscribed, we undertook a random ballot to allocate tickets in the fairest possible way. We had applications for more than 20 million tickets, seeing huge demand across many sports. Two-thirds of all price categories were oversubscribed and went to ballot.

Exclusive opportunity

We would like to invite you to take advantage of an exclusive opportunity to purchase some of the remaining tickets, in advance of those customers who were allocated tickets in the initial application phase.

From 6am on 24 June until 6pm on 3 July 2011 you will be able to request some of the remaining tickets on the London 2012 ticketing website

These tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. They cover a great range of Olympic sports including Athletics, Basketball, Football, Handball, Hockey and Volleyball. Download the full list of available sports

During this second chance sales window you will only be able to submit one application, and you will be able to apply for a maximum of three sessions. Once you submit, you will receive an email confirming your application. We will then advise you which tickets you have been allocated within 24-48 hours, subject to successful payment. All payments will be taken between 4 and 7 July 2011.

We very much hope you will take advantage of this exclusive ticket offer so you can still be a part of the greatest show on earth.

Received the email today: no tennis tickets but at least I did get something else; swimming tickets for the morning heats for 1 day. I applied for both tennis stadiums and groundpass for 3 days in various price ranges.
