Better training session for DelPo than Gulbis :)

Kavcic will take one set.

Kavcic is a good returner, but that won't be enough.

Remember that Del Potro is a big mystery these days, he's still looking for a top player rythm, he's capable of playing one good match followed by utterly bad one, so I'd pick Del Potro but with high risk of an upset.

I doubt we will see an upset here. It might not be a cakewalk for him but I think DelPo should win in straight sets.

only question here is JMDP fit., if he is 100% fit this would be banker at any odds., JMDP is most reliable player on tour.
Not like berdman and others mug

He showed even at 30% he can win matches against very good players. Even with a bad day, his giant mental helps him out. Okay, maybe not against Djokovic but surely against Kavcic.

Delpo should win, but Kavcic as good returner can have shot in long rallies - definetely he must be quicker on the court than tall Delpo after injury , Delpo will win but it will be tough match - match with Ivo was tough mentally, but this will be though for him physically i think- a lot of rallies i expect.

I disagree with that point because by reliable I mean a player who can be regular not only in strict tennis terms, but also can stay injury free and who's able to rival throughout the season, not only in some short parts of it. As for Del Potro, he has been permanently injured for a year with some short episodes of undisturbed game.

there will be long rallies only if Delpo plays bad or wants to play them. Not many players can deal with those devastating forehands. Even on clay, slow or anything else, these flat forehands seem unreturnable.

I hope so too, i like Delpo a lot and he can play probably harder forehands than nobody else, but my point is that in match against Ivo those rallies were not much physicall, even when were longer it wasnt left righ, left, right all the time and i think Kavcic can mix it well and Delpo wonīt all the time hitting inside to the court, he can make many errors, i hope he will win in 3 sets, because how longer they will play it will be better for Kavcic i think.

Yes,you have good points, but I think every match is different. Karlovic seemed improved on clay and somebody whos even taller than Delpo. These are small things, small facts, which are disturbing sometimes when somebody facing injury issues and huge expectations. I think this 1st round was crucial for him and for all experts, of course the test of his recent hip injury. Even 7-8 days ago, he was unsure if he'll play RG or not. To be honest, I think Djokovic will beat him, mostly because he moves awfuly well, but Delpo will give him a hard time, that's for sure.

Karlovic i think played good match today, in some rallies he was hitting as hard as Delpo:D, Thatīs what i mean-Delpo had some health issues, thatīs what i am affraid of in match against Kavcic or anybody else who can move him around the court- he was almost one year out, then played too many matches, than again was out and now he is here in PAris, just someone with good movements and good shot selection is too much for Delpo in his current shape. So hope he will beat Kavcic as fast as possible, Nole will be too much for him, too fast, too good defense and hell of a returner. But these are the small stepes for Delpo, he need practice and confidence and be healthy and then i hope in 2nd half of the season on HC he can be force that can take down everybody.

Probably the biggest match of Blaž carrer.:)

After returning Ivo's huge serves, this will be so much more comfortable for JMDP. He'll be able to get into a good rythm with Blaž.

JMDP in 3 sets, two of them might be tight.

Blaž hasn't lost a single tiebreak this season. So JMDP better be careful and doesn't get involved into one.

Del Potro wins in hard three or four set if Kavcic plays as good as against Gulbis. But DelPo is too good for him.

Yes, step by step. The only way he can reach top 5 again. BTW i expected a much slower improvement for this season than this. Hopefully he can keep this pace up.

Del Potro should take this in some way or form.

Once he's to the 3rd round and facing Djokovic, Djokovic will give him a first class ass kicking, and give him a taste of how he should prepare for the future of tennis. It won't be an insult or negative criticism at all, but Potro himself knows it will be a positive experience, and will give him an idea of how the current competition is, and how long as well as how much he'll have to put in to catch up.

Good luck Juan.

I don't think Blaz has the weapons to keep JMDP from dominating him, so I'll say JMDP in three somewhat tough sets. With that said, Blaz has improved his serve and counterpunching, so if DelPo isn't at a high level, Kavcic can take advantage.

I don't think that there will be an ass kicking style of match. The gap between them is not that big.

What are you talking about?
1. This is NOT about Novak it's about Del Potro and my comment is related to the topic.
2. I give credit where it's due and I'm quite objective(find one post where I wasn't?). I don't care if you like him or not, I just don't like made up stories and my comments were related to that.

Edit: Well, my bad actually this time. I didn't read carefully and thought they compared Del Potro and Kavcic. But still, to call me a maniac is a bit too much. Go through my posts and you'll see how wrong you are.

But he is not "equal". H2H Nole 1.0- Delpo 3:0 ( 7:0 in sets).
Now halfinjured Delpo will play ag Novak 2.0,a new improved version. What is equal about that? Can you explain to me?
Delpo has not won a set and have lost seven.
Odds will not be biger than 1.30 on Djokovic.
Nothing "equal" about that, nothing.

They haven't met years ago, I agree, Djokovic will beat him. I still believe that a prime Del Potro could beat this Djokovic. Call me crazy. This is my opinion.

I will put some money on Kavcic. He is playing better and better and he will fight like mad man.
I watched Blaz couple of times and he made a really god impresion on me.Easy win ag Gulbis and really god fight against Nole...
Why not, if Kubot can kill Almagro and old frenchman Berdich ...

Why not? Delpo is not Almugro or Birdsht, his level of play is not abysmal even at his worst day, but hey if John Isner can take Nadal 5 sets on clay who knows()
