Bad and very disappointing result. Gaba out of the top 120. I like Seppi a lot, but Gaba needed this.

BTW, it's bad for me, not a bad result in terms of the tennis. Even then I fully expected Gaba to win here, since I expected he would be motivated and because Seppi has barely been playing, but he's just not consistent. Oh well, hope he can get his way back into the top 100 in future weeks.

Gabashvili not in form and Seppi hardly played after the ankle problem, so how was Gaba expected to win. The betting markets didn't suggest that or he would have been at 1.50 before the match.

Seppi played a great match according to the stats but I don't know if that's fully accurate or not.

If you can't win a single set against Seppi and for that matter only muster 2 break points the entire match against his wta serve you really don't deserve to play at this level.

And Gaba won't...for the next year or so.

Seppi's 1st serve is tolerable, the second is garbage.

Because Andreas hasn't been playing. And this is his second tournament in 2 months, and it's a GS 5-set tournament. So I didn't believe he was match fit to take this match in these circumstances since I thought Gaba would actually play a great match, even though his form hasn't been good of late. But I underestimated Andreas I guess.

Gaba will be back and probably will make the AO MD next year, if not the USO MD. After June he doesn't have too much to defend through the rest of the year and he's always done good in challengers, he's just not good enough to stay at the ATP level on a consistent basis.

Damn, if Bellucci wins tomorrow he can play again with Seppi. :scared: I will never forget their match from Hamburg.

Good for Seppi. He needed that.

Too bad for Gabashvili. But he has always seemed to be down on himself, to me. The expression on his face, every match...he looks like he expects to lose. I like him, though, and I hope he gets it together, permanently.

Gabashvili should watch the tape of himself against Nadal from last year's USO before every match. He needs to remind himself that he can be a potent son of a bitch if he had some belief in himself.

I like Seppi too so glad to see him advance.

Seppi had 0(zero) unforced errors in the first set, and only 12 overall :yeah:

Expected Seppi to win this and its good that he did. Hopefulyl he gives Bellucci (likely next match) a tough time.

What a day for me!

:cheerleader:

Super match for Andreas, also won two tight sets in a row.
At this rate he should really be in top shape just for Umag. :D

Bye bye Gabashvili! Back where you belong :wavey:

Nice win, Andreas! Bellucci is very beatable, as he's usually very bad.
