I'm probably one of the few people that decided to watch this match because I had never seen Gensse play and have been surprised with his recent rank. The match was a bit disappointing, not very high quality. Gensse was often too defensive and had to hit a lot of defensive lobs. Wawrinka really lost the first set with a lot of unforced errors, but Gensse helped by serving well. The rest of the match was routine, and Wawrinka did have some nice touch at net.

Wawrinka may be fine if he avoids playing like he did in the first set but overall he was not too impressive and an upset could be looming.

I am surprised by Gensse. His game is solid.
But it looked like he was not physically prepared enough for this match.

Good that he won, but didn't look too good again. His opponents aren't too hard until QF, but he can lose to anybody if he plays like in the last weeks.

Certainly not a vintage performance from Stan. His game was all over the place for most of the match, but he was still a class above his opponent, and served well for the most part. Genesse has game, it was a good accomplishment for him to qualify in his home country major, but he ran out of steam in the third set and got progressively worse as the match continued.

Stan will pick up the focus when he plays better players.

Gensse ran out of gas, but Stan needs to step it up a notch as he moves on

Augustin's set was for directors of RG and public on court.

Stan seems to have worked out a formula - not necessarily only for winning matches - which involves losing the first set like clockwork

Good for Stan. He needs to work on focusing from the first point to the last (improving his first set win percentage). But he did enough. I don't think he'll ever be a topnotch player, however, and that's too bad, because I'd like to see him succeed.

It was more than handshake  Good to see some dialogue between players :)

Oh certainly...I'm guessing these two knew each other or something before? Or Gensse was just a big Stan fan?
