Doesn't matter how, another 45 points in the pocket and a nice chance against Haas/Ilhan.

Yeah, he just needs to get wins, doesn't really matter how at the moment.

Kendrick kept it close with his serve.

Kendrick is a good server and a good competitor, GGL isn't a great returner and has been struggling. So not a surprise that Rob could keep it close. Now grass season is coming so he should be able to get some wins in the pocket now.

As for GGL he has a big opportunity in this event, he needs to take advantage of it.

I'm glad he won. He should have. Kendrick is not a clay specialist.

"Grass season"? You mean those three or four tournaments sandwiched between the French Open and Wimbledon?

Looking at the stats, GGL served at 50%. That will have to be higher against better returners.

And no, grass doesn't really have a "season" but Rob has the opportunity to play like 4-5 grass events and hopefully he can do big damage.

Good effort on the dirt, Robby

Ye kendo gave a good fight today. Pity he coudnt convert any of the 4 break points in the first set. As for his grass court season, i cant understand why he hasnt entered Queens or Halle. So his only events will be s-hertogenbosch, wimbledon and probally newport. Very dissapointing he hasnt entered more events leading up to wimbledon like the 2 nottingham challengers or queens

Definitely not the smartest of scheduling from Robert. But he's been dealing with injuries so he probably wants a few weeks to get his body back together.

Was rooting for Kendrick here on the prayer he might serve his way through it, but not to be.

Really hope Haas can get through to face GGL; even if he's just half fit he'll beat Lopez.
