Federer vs Soderling from Shanghai last year might win this for me. Federer didn't even do anything besides put the ball in court and Soderling kept missing non stop :help: :tape:

Hard to answer since some top10 players chose to continue to play while injured just out of stubbornness or to work on something in their game. And in the old times there were probably tons of crap matches I missed. And don't even get me started on WTA...

But in matches were both players look to be giving it all and considering which tournament it's in maybe

TwreJJgeYIg

Even when players are giving up they usually take one game just to avoid a double bagel. Gaudio even failed that. Guess it makes it extra humiliating/embarrassing. At the same time Federer is Federer and he is a treat to watch no matter what

That match was amusing. Verdasco dropped down on his knees and started praying after winning a single point on one occasion. :superlol:

I notice that a lot of these matches seem to involve Federer or Nadal. In most cases, the matches were won because of either of them playing at a far superior level and I don't think we should take that away from them. For instance in the Federer vs Del Potro match at AO 2009, the Federer vs Roddick match at AO 2007 and the Nadal vs Verdasco match at MC 2010 would we really have said it would have been a better match by virtue of the scoreline being closer if Federer and Nadal had made more unforced errors?

I am sure there are many instances where for example the number 9 played against the number 10 and produced far worse matches in terms of quality and entertainment. Perhaps the fact that these matches aren't remembered so well as the ones mentioned above is indicative of the fact that they were worse?

A very valid point.

Soderling-Berdych at last year's RG was pretty boring for a match between 2 high ranked players (and it went 5)

We'll have an endless list here, then...

Roger vs. Nole Miami 2009 SF, the wind just turned that into an absolute low-quality match.

Other honourable mentions are: Roger def. Delpo 6-3,6-0,6-0 2009 AO QF (poor Delpo )
Nole def. Murray 6-4,6-2,6-3 AO 2011 Final (Murray's attitude in 2nd/3rd set- :help:)
Rafa def. Nando 6-0,6-1 (Worst final I watched in 2010 between two top 10 players :o)

Djokovic-Federer Miami 2009. ;)

This is one of my picks :help:

A lot of suggestions seem to involve only one of the two playing bad, and even if the other didn't have to do anything I don't think that counts properly.. the worst ones are usually closer like that horrible Miami match because both players are sucking.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Davydenko-Verdasco at AO last year. That was one of the most horrifyingly bad matches I've seen. 20 double faults for Fernando, Kolya choking away a two set lead then Fernando mugging up the fifth set, combined over 100+ unforced errors, just terrible tennis. I remember seeing people calling it an epic--and epic disaster more like it :o :o :o

I found the stats:

No sane person would actually watch that match no matter the quality.
