It is now wednesday, 3pm in europe, so it must be 9pm in hong kong now; The scoreboards stay unchanged, the same scores as yesterday. I think it is still raining there.

mmm.marat: With all the rain reckon marat is getting plenty of chance to rest before his 1st match.

Think the organisers must now be rueing the fact that they only scheduled 1 singles match on Monday - most odd!
They have now had the 2 days when the 1st round should be completed virtually rained off. So far just 3 matches have been completed & 3 others started.
If zosse is correct & storms are forecast until Friday they're never going to catch up.

Claudine: Moya has a really tough 1st round. Just hope he's coping with all these rain delays better than Jan Michael!

Question - If another day is lost tomorrow what is likely to happen to the tournament?. As it is, it looks like some players may have to play two matches in a day to simply try and catch up as so few first round matches have been completed. Also as some players are due to play in other tournaments next week - what happens under such conditions?.

TBE I suspect you know the answer to this :)

At ATP tourneys the players can play max 2 matches per day, so it's still possible to finish this tourney but if tomorrow is also rained off it could get difficult. Some of the players are also in the doubles draw...   :fiery:

Is there ever a tourney got cancelled because of rain? Just wondering.

I have known of a ladies final which was cancelled (Davenport/Hingis last year) - at least considered a draw, when it rained both Sunday & again on the Monday.

A hell lot of catching up to do at Salem!::eek:
Good thing though, they were able to finish some matches today. Go away rain!:fiery:  But I am so worried about those players who have to play doubles apart form their singles matches. Totally gruelling for them!
