He should have played Leon.
He doesn't seem to like clay and he has a lot of points to defend.

hope the best for Harrison although he looks quite bad on clay

Filo V.

Yeah, Soeda will probably fall from top 100, but to me he doesn't belong there anyway, so I wouldn't mind.

I expect a big result from Prodon here, since he's one of the real clay court players here. Also Bogo is pretty decent on clay, Sweeting just won a title, and Don has a lot of confidence. Will also be interesting to see how Harrison does.

I know! It's been way too long.

Robby is the only current American male singles player to reach the 4th round at Roland Garros twice, and this could be his first tournament since his injury after the US Open last year. Good luck to him if he plays here!

Sweeting has an easy draw. Don has a moderately tough draw. Winnable, but difficult. His R2 will be difficult regardless of the opponent. MM v Blake is a good R1. Smyczek should have a good shot at taking out Soeda, which would take him from top 100. Harrison has a tricky R1 with Delic, but if he takes that, SF chances are definitely there. Mikey could struggle to beat Witten, and I can see him losing to Ward also so he'll need to be in form. Bogo has a good R1, but either of his two 2nd round opponents can be tricky.

Great tournament, hope one of Don, Mikey and Harrison win it.

Well, not a great day for some of the American boys, but Amer is great so I hope he goes far here. I just want Frank to take Soeda out. Hopefully Ryan does better next week and gets that top 100 spot. Also, Ocheatnik being in the draw again will spice things up.

Niland basically sucks now. Too bad, he was almost top 100 at the end of last year. I'm still disappointed in Tim losing at basically a home event. Hopefully Don and Ryan S. make up for it tomorrow with wins.

Oh, and James, clean up the garbage on the other side of the net tomorrow.

Ward beats Odesnik 3-6 6-2 6-2 Well done Ward for stopping, or at least delaying the Rot, don,t mean that to sound harsh! But his form this year is woeful. I really hope this win signals a return to form! With all do respect he is unlikely to win his next match but I hope he does. He needs to get out of this bad run. Odesnik was his third win of the Year!

Duclos - Delic 3-6 6-4 6-2

This is a disaster. I still can`t imagine Duclos winning on clay with player like Delic. Also after Amer won over Ryan Harrison.

Maybe something was wrong again with his health or simply this tournament is also ... by italian mafia :)

Anyway when I saw the results of Duclos playing on clay, my angry grew automaticly . Can somebody explain me ?

I agree, this is a disaster. Maybe Delic lost due to one point - all day all the world put money on his win :) This is green american clay, he is fast and hardcourters here have advantages. After easy win against Harrison to lose to Duclos who had 3 not easy matches in qualies and played like mug against nobody Collaniri... WTF ;]

I was following the scoreboard during the Delic match and it was just strange really. Delic was cruising in the first set, winning about 65-70% on first serve and 75 - 80% on second serve, so he had no trouble holding and broke Duclos twice. The Delic totally fell apart, getting broken in the first game of the second set and struggling to hold in every service game after, while doing nothing on the Duclos serve. Once it got to 3-1 to Duclos in the 2nd set it was obvious that he was going to go on and win the match and he took the 3rd set even easier. The ease with which Delic won the first set compared to the difficultied he had in the 2nd and 3rd set suggests he got injured, but I don't know for sure.

Bogo beat Mikey pretty badly. He hit an ace at 30-30 at *5-4 to get to MP in the second set. Bogo seems like the next Dodig to me. I'm rooting for Frank in their SF, I should root for the American, but I like Frank too much and this is too good of an opportunity.
