He is young, is not expiriences and on the weekend made davis cup debut in singles. Its pretty stupid to "blacklist" him for a bad loss. Plenty of DC players will suffer this week. The betting suggestions are crazy.

What a crazy post, hard to be at 100% physically and motivated after a DC weekend, especially for someone young in his DC debut.

If you had Igor blacklisted 6 months ago, then for what? He was #120 in the world.

This is when it shows that "fans" forget that those that are playing this sport are people like any other. Not damn machines.

And I'm not just talking about this particular case. That's why I've had to start limiting my time here as like other boards.

But I guess things lose their "ahh" factor if you realize it...

If you hate players for having bad losses at age 20 then you must hate a lot of players. I dont blame him for wanting to play every week to gain experience and valuable ranking points, he probably didnt expect to even be picked in DC when he made his schedule to play in Thailand. You say he turned up to take money and go but Andreev wouldn't be getting much appearance money in the first place.

what's Andreev's ranking and what's Wassen's ranking? You can figure out what's going on.

"he take money and go"...........This is definetely the kind of player I hate. And this is why I like Kuznetsova so much, because she plays by her heart, never lose Ga match that she shouldn't lose. Only this kind of player can someday take the crown of Grand Slam.

09-29-2004, 08:58 AM
Just some of my point of view..

- Their massive class difference is a factor to consider and...
- It is not JUST abt the outcome of winning and losing.. but look at the scoreline.. it is a big difference such that we could safely deduce if the player is trying hard enough..
- Lets not talk if money is the issue cos we can't be sure..

My conclusion is even though due to some reason Andreev didn't feel like playing.. but if he really didn't want to play.. why not just withdraw? Should a player who decided to play give it their best shot? :)

Then how do you explain the following results of Kuznetsova? Particularly Hobart.

Hobart:
Lost to Salerni first round 6-1 6-1 (Salerni ranked 174)
Wimbledon:
Lost to Razzano first round (Razzano ranked 118)

normally u can see if somebody want to lose and bet against himself by analizing the movement of the odds.

a clear example is the match between puerta and vliegen.when the bokkies put out the odd of vliegen was 2.3,then somebody bet on him at the odd of 1.2...THIS IS A SOLD MATCH.

andreev was only poorly motivated, and plays too much...so don't say things like that about something u don't know...

bye

ps:thanks for updating guys!

WyveN, about Kuznetsova's lost at Hobart and Wimbledon, if you are a serious punter, you SHOULD know the reason. At Hobart, that was the begining of the year. Not many players were in-form at the begining of a year. A serious gambler should never take this period seriously because no player take this time seriously. At Wimbledon, it's more obvious. She just took the champion of the previous tournament at Eastbourn (on the Sunday just before Wimbledon) with three 3-setters in the quater, the semi and the final. That should mostly run her out of energy. That lost was quite predictable (and that's why I didn't bet on her even though she won Eastbourn).

However, with Igor Andreev, he did play DC. But that was only one match, and it was an easy win over Srichaphan (a non-claycourter). Before DC, he had A WHOLE WEEK for rest and preperation for DC and Thailand Open. If you say he has a problem with energy, well, I wonder how Kutzie manage to win US OPEN, Bali and runner-up of China Open. The truth is ---- the beach is more attractive than the tournament. Well, if your mind is not on tennis, you'll never be a great tennis player even if you have talent, just like many others.

Agree, Parmar had 3 break points in the 1st set while trailing 0-4 but couldn't convert all of them. He fought back in 2nd set well but failed to convert another break-point opportunity.

Commentator informed us that Andy has a bit of health problem, he called trainer during a changeover. Get well soon, Andy.

09-29-2004, 06:53 PM
oh no, a health problem? :( he had a cold at DC and with the long trip and jetlag I wouldn't imagine that helped....Hopefully it's just that and not an injury. have they said anything more specific? Thanks for the updates!

Deboogle!.
09-29-2004, 07:02 PM
here's what the AFP said, hopefully a good night's sleep will do the trick. Jetlag is a bitch.

"It's a good thing the serve was working, it's good to win one and four on just a couple of hours of sleep," said Roddick, who took a sniff of smelling salts on court to jolt himself into action at one point.
