well, I know what many people like to say about Roddick's game on clay and taking a set from Nadal isn't the worst performance today and many expected that Roddick will go down without having a chance and that he is intimidated by the Spanish crowd.

Nobody here knows if Ferrero would have done well against Roddick either, so it's getting sort of tiresome hearing "should have played Ferrero". If it doesn't work it doesn't work, but it's not like they didn't put a LOT of thought into it before putting Rafa in.

Nooo... the thread in GM. About the draw and Nadal being selected. There are a few people in there who thought Roddick would get drubbed, but they are in the minority. A number of otherwise "neutral" posters thought it was the stupidest decision by the Spaniards ever.

Nooo... the thread in GM. About the draw and Nadal being selected. There are a few people in there who thought Roddick would get drubbed, but they are in the minority. A number of otherwise "neutral" posters thought it was the stupidest decision by the Spaniards ever.

ah you mean this thread, okay... I didn't read it completely, but I was aware of the fact that people took a step backwards because they knew that Nadal isn't as solid as the French Open Champions Ferrero and Moya, but basically it's Nadal in the position of the favourite here because Roddick is a rather bad player on clay

come to think about it this could be part of a strategy by the Spanish team.....should Nadal lose today and tomorrow.......a fresh Ferrero would be a definite point against Fish.....and this will lead on to Moya to wrap up the proceedings

I know Nadal is a good guy and that he shows respect of his opponent when saying Roddick has a good chance. How arrogant would it sound if he said "I will beat him in straight sets in 90 minutes"?

Don't worry... Nadal will most likely still win, no need for understatements ;)

Don't know, I'm not watching this.

Pandy served slightly better in the 2nd yet got broken twice. He is probably just tired fr that TB in the 1st; this often happens. Rafa obviously decided to get his act together after losing that long 1st set -- so good for him! And he needs to conserve his energy if he wants to win this match.

VAMOS, RAF!

16:36 So far Nadal has won 22 points from the baseline while Roddick only won 9! The numbers speak for themselves

16:34 Roddick couldn't challenge Nadal from the baseline while his serve hasn't been effective at all on the clay

It helps that Pandy's not serving particularly well.
