The bad news is that Brisbane is now underwater too The crisis just gets worse. 32 suburbs of Brisbane affected at the moment. I have cousins up there, more friends and my brother in law's sister and her kids have been evacuated in a suburb that is now completely isolated by the floods. It's just depressing

 I thought they might make some allowance for your situation. I'm glad they did. It's quite a relief.

Terrible about the new flooding. I haven't looked at the Australian news yet.

One of the comments cracked me up.

driving back from work tonight and a couple of fuckheads were driving towards me up the wrong way up the warrago highway, we were all going slow so it didn't matter too much. turns out it was flooded up ahead and because the road was quiet as and near the onramp i thought i'd better be a fuckhead as well

I knew Nadal was a huge favourite..

I think Nole's got chances for grand slams this year if he can beat anyone bar Nadal..

Mainly because I think Nadal won't repeat his 2010, especially at the USO. That's where I fancy Nole's chances most...

I think Nole can beat Nadal in a HC Slam() If i'm not mistaken last year USO final was their first meeting on HC in a slam but the fact that Nadal won it is in no way an indication what future meetings might bring. That was a special match and Nadal was in a special state, I think he could have beaten anyone in that day
So, when i read about how Nole choked and wasted his chances I'm WTF? :cuckoo:

And yes, I don't think Rafa will repeat either

I think Nole will have problems in bo5 matches with Nadal on any surface if he doesn't start playing more aggressive. Even if Nadal is not at his best.

Actually maybe even the amount of aggression isn't the problem... sometimes he just plays like a retard. (to the side where Rafa is running, etc.)

He even admitted he knows how retarded he plays against Fed/Rafa, and he claims that will change in 2011. ()

I know you didn't ask me, but I LOVED the way Nole played at the USO. It made me very hopeful for the future, and I hadn't felt that way for quite a while. Also fans on the Nole Forum were quite pleased with his play.

Of course, he didn't play every point perfectly and he made mistakes, but everyone does that in tennis matches especially long ones. Nadal made mistakes too and it cost him a set. Nadal was very opportunistic that day and made Nole pay for some of his mistakes.

Me?

I thought Nole played some great tennis, but was never truly in a winning position. I think a player has to be in a winning position before one can say he choked. So, No, I don't think he choked.

I do think he became tired and disprited at the last -- sort of accepted defeat. So, he lost the mental struggle. That's not the same as choking in my opinion. Players fight for mental dominance in tennis matches too. Djoko lost the battle.

Psychosomatic? Nope. I don't think I long for approval, but one often misjudges oneself. I only care if I really like someone, but even then, when the rubber hits the road, I've got to please myself.

Once I started having responsibilities, I started not liking to miss work because it only meant I had to catch up. Sometimes, I get irritated when a holiday comes along. I started taking off 2 weeks for IW, and it's a bitch. I have to work so hard before I go and then again after I come back. She probably has a brain tumor.

Seriously, there are also cases of woman where this condition (brain malfunktion) worsens and then have pretty much an orgasm all the time. counter-intuitively this is said to be a terrible condition.

So basically there is a certain number of orgasm that is similar to 0 in terms of having a satisfying life.

http://thecelebritycafe.com/feature/shakira-splits-longtime-boyfriend-01-11-2011

Shakira has recently been linked to Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué as well as tennis number one Rafael Nadal who appeared in her “Gypsy” music video. The singer denied that she was involved with either one.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/3344207/Shakira-splits-from-boyfriend-of-11-yrs.html

Last March, Shakira filmed steamy scenes with ex-Wimbledon champion RAFAEL NADAL for her song Gypsy.

The video saw the pair draped around one other, barely dressed and gazing into each other's eyes.

Oh :bs: This reminds me of the scientists who decided that octupuses (i?) had no sense of self because when they were in a tank and threatened they would retreat behind a glass wall where they were still visible. Ok, Mr. Scientist, if you were threatened and the ONLY cover you had was a glass wall, betcha you'd go behind it too. Something is better than nothing.

I watched a documentary program about crows. It was amazing. They communicate. They tell other crows about their bad experiences and the other crows act on that knowledge (scientific experiments) and also there is a particular kind of crow that MAKES a tool from a twig to get food and also can get a tool to remove another tool to use to get a tool to allow him to get food. So, if you told that to people who have this idea that lesser beings can't think but only act from instinct, they would probably laugh at you too. But the scientists studying these things wouldn't laugh.

I know the telling of the experiences is hard to believe, but I saw the experiments and the results on the program.

Also they pass along experiences to their young and the young also react although they have not had the experience themselves.

Well, it could just be instinct for survival that had men making tools as well. ;) The crows take a twig and carefully make a hook on the end of the twig by pecking away the offshoots and leaving one that goes off at approximately a right angle.

When we see some of the best food production areas in Australia completely innundated, one wonders about food prices there -- and elsewhere as well.

Weather volatility is certainly an important factor. Then you have the latest and greatest fushion in "High Finance", the so called "Exchange Traded Funds" Those invest directly in commodities with the expectation not of consuming but of holding to sell in a higher price. That raises troublesome questions for all of us, allowing financial investors we all recently supported (in our tax-payer capacity and, implicitly, our voter capacity as well) to withold, say, wheat, from consumption at a time when wheat is desperately needed in some places.

Yes. Greece, Spain and Ireland. You won't have far to watch.

Not that riots are out of the question in these countries but what I have in mind is places where the budget for food is, on average, a substantial part of the family expenses. Those countries do not fall in that category (yet :scared:) A recent historical precedent is the revolution in Iran in 1979.

I knew Nadal was a huge favourite..

I think Nole's got chances for grand slams this year if he can beat anyone bar Nadal..

Mainly because I think Nadal won't repeat his 2010, especially at the USO. That's where I fancy Nole's chances most...

Nole's best chances clearly are at the hard court slams but I don't think he has any advantage at the US Open compared to the AO. He needs to conserve his energy, especially avoid protracted matches under the sun and he has good chances. True he has not won against Nadal in a slam but he would have the confidence on hard courts.

I'm a slightly inferior version of Linda, I love pets. And children. Other than that, we're magnificently identical in every way.

She's funnier, prettier, better at photoshopping, and she's a true Scot unlike me :yeah:

We don't need pics, beauty comes from the inside.

Adam  Good luck in your next marriage proposal, this time Linda might accept :D

I'd rather want to have food poisoning, thanks :)

I would much prefer Roger winning the AO to having a food poisoning

And now :tears: heartbroken and distraught, Metis rarely posts here.

It's all Merton's fault.

Me too but I was talking about something I'd actively want :D Food poisoning sounds less repulsive in theory :p
