Kolya served well with 81% first serves in. Karlovic served 71% but that wasn't enough today against Denko who pounced on Ivo's second serves more often than not.

Interesting semi against Nadal coming up.

Donkey served over 90% first serves until late in the first set.

Now he can relax and lose to Nadal.

he got a break in each set. 2/3 in BP chances.

i was surprised at how many points karlovic got off kolya's serve. he seems to have improved his groundstrokes a little bit.

Match was much closer than result suggests . Karlovic had his chances and he wasn't so often inferior in baseline exchanges . I was really surprised with Ivo's performance from the back after such long pause from tennis . To be honest I am not sure if he was ever that good from baseline . From the other side serve looked little less huge than before but he has tge time to improve that . Ivo is on good way and he needs just keep it up entire season . If he continues like he started I am sure that he will finish a season in top 30-40

Even if he loses in the semi, he has already defended a good chunk of last year's Doha tally. Of course missing the end of last season will leave a mountain to climb but he's shown signs of his rock solid game this week that gives hope for the near future. For the sake of competition, his presence at the top is good for the game for his ability to beat just about everyone and keep it exciting.
