Falla was up 6-4 3-0 with double break in the second, then Nishikori won 9 games in a row.

Expected choke from Falla, now I think Tipsarevic will take care of the Japanese.

A big phew! :worship::worship::worship:

Kei needs to get into his rhythm more quickly, not after his back is against the wall!
No more rollercoaster please!!

Now he is 3-0 against Falla in H-to-H.
I don't know whether his complaint was valid, but if so, that's a really tough luck for him. But he probably need to channel the anger into playing better and winning the points, not melting down.

As for the next round, Tipsy will be a whole lot tougher, but I think it will be a great match if both players play to their potential. :)
Good luck, Kei!

Big steal by Kei, as Falla should have got the first game in the third. Kei should have tanked that game from deuce. But good for me. :)

Falla really did let this match slip from his grasp. Other have already commented about giving away a double break in the second set, but even when behind in the third set, thumping the ball and making a series of errors wasn't the smartest strategy.

Anyway, it's nice to see Kei go on a bit of a run here. Even if he doesn't get past Tipsy, he has had a great week by knocking out the defending champion and then going on to win his 2nd round match.

Kei's going to get himself mentally and physically drained playing like this. Having said that, he got the comeback win. Groovy.

Third set, first game, falla on serve. The umpire did not keep the correct score, it was 30-30 should have been Falla 40-15. Kei wins a point so in Umpires mind it's Falla 30-40, then Falla wins a point should have been game Falla by now, but Umpires calls deuce Falla and even the commentators looked confused. Falla went to the umpire asking for an explanation, umpire told him "it's too late I cannot change the score now" then he went crazy, hitting ball out of court and smashing his racket.

didn't this happen also a while ago, but then the umpire corrected the score?

Yes, Falla lost it mentally and got broken twice after that. Then he decided to play again for a minute, but the damage was too big already.

Shame for fans of Colombian tennis players that Falla and Giraldo are such tremendous chokers.

here's what exactly happened

Drama ensued on Centre Court in the second game of Thursday as the 27-year-old Falla threw the second round game against Kei Nishikori following a dispute with the chair umpire. Having won the first set and been 3-0 up in the second, Falla lost six games on the trot as the Japanese youngster levelled things up.

But the real story of the match unfolded on the Falla serve in the first game of the decider. Having gone up 15-0, a backhand lob by Nishikori fell just wide of the baseline. Even though the line umpire called the ball out, the chair umpire, Mohamad El Jenatti of Morocco, announced the score as 15-all. Falla did not take notice of the error at that point and proceeded with the game.

Nishikori won the third point and appeared to ask the chair umpire what the score was again after hearing the announcement for 15-30. Three points later, Falla was walking off the court after getting what he thought was the game-winning point, when it came to his notice that the score was Deuce. He argued with the official for a while, who maintained that the score on the board was correct.

A disconsolate Falla smashed a ball out of the stadium and was given a warning for abusive behaviour. Two points later, a forehand pass by Nishikori got him a break of serve and with that Falla let loose, repeatedly smashing his racquet on court. His actions got him a penalty and Nishikori started the second game 15-0 up.

Falla returned the Nishikori serve and then walked away, continuing his remonstrations and this charade continued for two games. Down 0-3 and with his coach screaming at him to give his best, Falla gave one last shot at the match.

But by then it was a case of too little too late and even though he broke Nishikori in the fourth game, the set and match was soon wrapped up by the Japanese star.

Personally, I would have told Mo to go fk himself and then I would have walked off court.
