And the real bad thing is: No seeding in Melbourne!

Return points won are close, so perhaps you should direct your rage elsewhere since obviously Kohli was not showing how much more he's skilled from the court.

Yeah but what im saying is karlovic is just awful at tennis he wins because of his serve because he is tall. He doesnt even make an effort to improve anything else in his game the rest of his game is just shit all he has is his 1st serve.

Dont get me wrong i have nothing wrong with players like that but you can see with isner, querrey, anderson they have all put in hard work to move better and be more consistent from the baseline also they have good 2nd serves aswell.

karlovic is just totally useless just his 1st serve he has and he's not good enough to break serve so he just wins matches 7-6,7-6.

well the fact that kohli is a whole foot shorter than karlovic and he still won more points on the return should tell you something.

Please stop embarrassing yourslef. Anyone who's actually been watching tennis knows improved movement and especially volleys account for his rise from top 50-60 to top 20. Not exerting effort to improve my ass. And why would you even compare guys like Querrey or Anderson to him (or Isner for that matter), they are not skyscrapers who have to find a way to compensate for the movement disadvantage. Finally, if anyone of that height could easily serve the same and have as decent a game, there'd be more than two on the tour. Now, gulp those sour grapes all in one go and relax. I'm not too fond when he beats my faves either, but it's a special challenge playing guys like that, esp. in best of three, and you either pass it or don't.

No, the fact that Ivo won as many points when returning should tell YOU something about the quality of Kohli's play. If Ivo is as clueless as you claim from the ground, than it's mighty embarrassing to lose some 30 points to him when you're serving, some of them crucially in the two TBs.

All these fools which are talking all these shits after every Karlovic's win don't know anything about him and his carrier . If they know they will be happy after every Ivo's win . Really few players had harder tennis begin . When he was starting nobody wanted to help him . He was in a full sense " ugly duck " . Nobody gave anything to him , all what he got he achieved due to him himself and his family . His family had no money and it is real miracle that he achieved things which he achieved . Many people don't like him because he is so shy and unopened . But this is mainly because he has stuttering problems and everyone which knows anything about stuttering also knows how it's difficult going alone through the world with this problem . when he is with his fellows he is very funny and amusing guy . And all these pathetic posters find somebody else from which you want to take anything . This guy deserves all this what he has achieved and much more

Well no because karlovic is a big server and kohli isnt kohli will expect to win most of his service points from the baseline which gives karlovic more chance of winnings points where as at 6.10 karlovic is serving from a tree so kohli is unlikely to win many points on return unless there 2nd serves.

10 is a lot, a record anyway.

One of the weirdest tie-break things is the fact that Ivanisevic who was involved in so many tie-break matches during his career, didn't play even once an all tie-break match! He was very close 4 times:
Montreal '95: Enqvist 7-6(2) 6-7(3) 5-7
Hannover '96: Sampras 7-6(6) 6-7(4) 5-7
Zagreb '97: M.Norman 7-6(5) 6-7(4) 7-5

it takes someone with immense mojo to beat Ivo when he is in this mood... like, b-grade porn star radek stepanek... he knows how to sex-out a win under these conditions... unfortunately for germs, and not surprisingly, kohli did not own the required amount of mojo to beat Ivo today...

i mean, it's not like you cant prepare for Ivo... you know exactly what you are gonna get...

Are you listening to yourself? You claim Karlo can't do shit from the ground. How the fuck does he win points when he's returning, even if Kohli is serving underarm. Once the ball is in play, he should win points easily according to your assessment of their ground games. It has to be either that A) Kohli sucked B) Ivo doesn't suck as much as you make it out to be C) a bit of both

You must just be counting matches that go 3/5 sets. I don't think you said that in the 1st post. Otherwise Karlovic would have just had 2 in a row all TB matches.

Well let's see. Someone will make a predictions thread. We'll talk about the upcoming Karlovic-Isner match a little bit. The match will start and eventually end. Someone will make a results thread before the match has even ended. The word "mug" will be thrown around a bit, mixed with other such gems including, "All-serve", "choke" and "Nadal". People will comment on how many/how few tie-breaks there were, and how shocked or amused or some other generic human emotion they were subsequently. The match and thread will then be forgotten and lost in the sea of numerous other threads in the MTF archive, till some genius decides to bump it ten years down the road.

Just another match.

Karlovic is a disgrace to tennis

It is sad to read/hear words like these.

Yes, Karlovic is generally dull to watch because of his serving advantage, but I like the fact that he brings another dimension to the tour. It would be terrible if the tour had a unified tennis style...imagine 100s of Nadals running around, each at a slightly different playing level to the other.

Say what you want about him, but he is a very skilled tennis player to have achieved what he has. There are other people in the world of a similar height to him, yet they couldn't master a serve like his, and would probably struggle to move as he does (despite how slow and wooden he appears to us).

Besides, I thought that some of his play against Rosol wasn't bad.

The scary thing for other players is that his serving averages this week are similar to those at the peak of his playing abilities a couple of years ago. If he can keep this up, we should see him back in the top 50 again before too long.
